Our players are capable of winning despite Les Miles being on the sideline. If you disagree, you're blatantly bashing the players and should be banned.

Riiight,, the players just get together on the sidelines and make plays up in the dirt while Miles just chews gum and looks important, got it.

les has only been blown out in 5 out of 66 games

Hooray for us! We have the want not to be blown out. That's what we strive for at LSU now.
quote:

i like how people think the program has dropped. first of all, 8 wins to 9 wins is an increase.

Set the bar low enough, and improvement is almost inevitable. 8 and 9 wins is a significant decrease from 11 and 12. Regression, like progression, is not a perfectly linear process. It's two steps backward, one step forward, etc. The overall direction is downward, though.
quote:

it's silly to me when people make an argument, "oh, les isn't any good. he won't ever win another sec championship at lsu." what am i suppose to say to that?

You're supposed to say that it sucks and we should fire him. Or make a reasonable argument that suggests the person is wrong about it.
quote:

we may average ten wins the next 5 years, bring home a nc, and a couple sec titles.

With Les Miles, we are 100% certain NOT to do that.
quote:

we may average 8 wins and les gets run off.

With Les Miles, I doubt we will do that well.
quote:

none of us know, and that argument is not one at all. just an opinion that people think they're right about because no one has an answer back.

OK, so bet on Vanderbilt to win the national championship this year, since no one knows they won't.
quote:

best part is, we're gonna get to find out.

Unfortunately, yes, those of you who don't already know WILL find out. A year or two too late to save the program from another rebuilding process, but you will find out.

I dont think the girlfriend and ex girlfriend anology really works for les needing to go. LSU fans wants a nepoleonic complexe coach like saban was. Its not that we want Saban back. That SOB can burn in hell for all I care. We want a coach to come in and dominate the competition. An not put up with a poor playing players or team.

While Les has had a great record and a NC under his belt which most of that stuff has come with Saban players. The thing that bothers me most about Miles is his easy going attitude shows in his team. the team is ok with a half azz win AKA Troy, La Tech, and Tulane. LSU should have destoryed those them but the team was just glad to get out with a win.

That attitude is what pisses alot of LSU fans off. I know LSU wont win every game but LSU should blow out the teams that should be blown out and compete with every other team and not be blown out by teams UGA and FLA a few years back. I want LSU to lost to a team because that team was better then them and its a close game. I hate when a miles team gives away a win when they were far superior then the other team.

Oh and Miles is Lsu's Ron Zook

All the optimist/Miles fans out there just cant seem to get it. They all go well look he has a 51-15 record, YAY!! Why would you want to get rid of him? Thats great, I agree. 51-15 is pretty damn good. The problem is all good things come to an end and if anyone can show me where this miraclous turn around is going to come from, Ill listen. Im hoping for it, I just dont see it.

The thing people see who want him gone is that out of his 15 losses, 9 of them are in the past 2 years. To show the trend taking the last 4 years, in 06 and 07 he won 23 out of 27 games(85.2 win%), and in 08 and 09 he won 17 out of 26(65.4 win%). He went from a solid B(which is damn good in football) to a solid D.

Now I love Miles personailty, I love his hilarious quotes that puzzle the feeble minded and his caring attitude. But im not loving the trend of our football team. I agree he needs to stay this year, but its make or break time.

Definitely wouldn't have gone worse than 17-9 in the past two years if that were true. How many games did LSU win in the last two years where you said "Whew--good thing Les is our coach."

08 regular season:

7-5, 7th place in SEC, Peach Bowl invite, and non-ranked.

09 regular season:

9-3, 3rd in the SEC, Capital Bowl invite, and nationally ranked.

If you can't see an up tread from 08 to 09, then you are not looking or you simply don't want to see it. imo

yea im not looking year to year, im looking at the overall trend. Yes I agree there were huge improvements in 09, but their were also huge regressions in 09. Overall you can not deny that over the past four years we have fallen back some. Basically we were in better shape 4 years ago then today.

Your analogy is well thought out. And likely to be the ultimate outcome if UM goes looking again in the next 2 years.

I would be ambivalent about that because the known is sometimes better than the idealized unknown.

Still too early to tell.

Question is: How many games did LSU win in the last two years when YOU SAID "Whew--I wish Les Miles wasn't our coach."

If you answer anything other than 'none', you're not being truthful. How many were calling for his head a mere 3 years ago when LSU won the National Championship? None. But if we don't blow everybody out by 40...and I mean everybody...the rantards are ready for a lynch party.

It's ridiculous.

Not really when we drop from winning 85% of our games to only winning 65%, I can see where some people could get alittle upset. Its not that rediculous.

yea im not looking year to year, im looking at the overall trend

Regular Season Trend

+2, -1, even, -3, +2

If you could see it on a graph it would look like a lopsided W and we are on the UP swing.

So the TREND is up.

People are lumping 08 and 09 and calling it a 'net' trend and that is just not right or fair.

Each year has to be judged on it's own and you can't simply eliminate what you don't like and add what you do.

I'd love to act like 08 didn't happen, but it did.

If 09 had not shown dramatic improvement in certain areas I would be very concerned.

As it stands, my only concern for 2010 is whether our QBs step up. If they do, we have the best team in the country.

If they are serviceable then we just have a shot to be the best team in the country.

If, on the other hand, our QB play = 08 or most of 09 then we will probably lose a few games again.

It is what it is, but the sky has not fallen and LSU is not some blind sister of the poor as the rant would have you believe.

IMVHO.

point is, just because you dont have the best, you might have a pretty good one. and by the way, you're not the best program around. you run off this guy, you might just end up with tommy tubberville. just saying.

So we just remain content with playing for 2nd in the west? That's the exact type of mentality that will keep LSU mediocre
