.[/quote]cola....that will happen very soon. The lower bowl visitor seats will become season tickets and the visiting section will be moved to the upper deck....it will happen.

That will be a great day! It's bad when your team can't hear the snap count at home.

I was mainly upset because they normally give us like 300-500 lower seats (students) and we only got half of NN this time,

The only season ticket holder I know that got lower seats was a Dr. friend of mine and that's only b/c his group has a suite. I only got 2 out of the 4 i requested and they are NN 7 row 23. For the Oregon game, I got all my 6 i requested in the lower section.

Until fairly recently they used to group all the visiting fans in the south endzone and they filled the entire lower bowl of the sez. It was ridiculous that we'd let them have such a nice consolidated mass and then we'd travel to places like Gainesville they spread us around so that it looked like we only brought a few hundred down on the feild next to the band. Now LSU finally puts most of the visitors in the upper east deck where they belong leaving a much smaller group in lower bowl. Beleive it used to be much worse.

I hear ya, but students are really the last in line of priority. I'd imagine a small number of the high ranking university and state officials didn't likely go to UT, or MSU, or wherever, but you can bet your arse they're traveling 4.5 hours to Tuscaloosa to see this one, and LSU was able to distribute those unused seats to students for the other games.
This is a main reason students get their tickets distributed last.

My dad usually gets really, REALLY good seats because of his TAF affiliation and he got some god awful seats in this stadium's upper deck. He's furious. The upper deck in BDS are the worst seats I've ever had at a football game. I couldn't see the ball and the players looked like microscopic dots. Pretty sure the blimp was below me.

If we keep getting screwed at Bama (I don't know if we are or not), how awesome would it be to place the Bama band in the upper deck next year in Tiger Stadium?

This is how Bama handles all their home games. Search your soul-er- i mean thread history. People are bitching about the same thing over the last few years.

We alot them X amount of seats in defined sections/rows/seat #'s. They determine how they distribute them.

Dammit there a TON of fail in this thread.

The SEC mandates that X% of your stadium MUST be allocated for visitors. Of that visitor allocation X% MUST be in the lower bowl.

LSU has changed their lower level allotment to match these minimums, or very close to them.

The visiting team receives the ENTIRE grouping of tickets from the home team and chooses how to allocate them among their fans. So no, Alabama didn't put 600 students in the upper deck. LSU did, and no LSU can't put BAMA's band in the East Upper...only Bama can choose to do that.

When/if LSU ever builds a South Endzone Upper Deck, you will find that the majority of those visitors seats in the East Upper will be put on the top rows there.

Although, we could do what Bama and UF do and spread everyone out so it looks worse on TV and isn't as loud.

Not sure if it has been brought up yet, but EVERY SEC school is REQUIRED by the SEC office to offer 1700 lower bowl tickets to opposing fans.

When Joe Alleva came to LSU, we were handing out 3k lower bowl tickets. He has steadily been bringing that number down, and putting more visiting fans in the upper deck.

This is directly from Joe Alleva, yesterday afternoon.

I figured as much, SEC rules, blah, blah, blah.

FWIW, the visiting section in Tiger Stadium has gradually gotten moved more and more to the upper decks in Tiger Stadium. I guess we are taking the "what's good for the goose is good for the gander" approach.

Wow, how old did I just sound in that post? :

Bama puts all their lower bowl seats together. UF and MSU are the only stadiums with Upper Decks that don't put all their lower bowl seats together.

I see a lot of confusion and helpful data from others. This is how the Bama seating (and SEC seating for that matter) was told to my by TAF.

*The SEC mandates that you have to offer the visiting team 7,000 tickets

*Of the 7,000 tickets, a certain percentage must be "good" seats (i.e. lower bowl) (ETA: Per PRK, it's 1700)

*Bama does this, but just barely

*LSU gives more than the SEC minimum (ETA: Per PRK, it's 3000 lower bowl seats)

So this begs the question, "Why doesn't LSU simply move more visiting fans to the upper deck and more LSU upper deck fans down low?" This cannot be done (ETA: cannot be done easily) because if you move LSU fans down low, they now owe a HIGHER TAF Traditions fund fee (for sitting in better seats). Most upper deck fans don't want to pay the higher mandatory donation amount.

*If LSU expands into the South Endzone, they will do the same thing Bama has done to us. Book it!

OK, here is where it gets hairy

*If LSU brings the FULL band, that, plus player's families, TAF staff, other "dignitaries"; we now are down to only a handful of tickets for the season ticket holder

*In 2009, I believe that only TAF numbers 1-30 or so received tickets in the lower bowl. Numbers 31 and up had to go to the upper deck.

We are not (I think) bringing a full band this year. Because of this, there are now more lower bowl seats for LSU fans.

Feel free to correct me if I'm a bit wrong on some of my info
