Still a fricking stupid arse argument, people make fun of guys for leaving early then 6th round picks make 1.5 mill and they laugh at yall.

With 1.5 million he can pay someone to figure out his retirement plan.

Yet, in all probability, he won't.
Most NFL players go bankrupt.

That's not that much money, if you factor in living for an average of 45+ more years.
Try taking you entire life's earning potential, making it all by age 30. Then living off that for the rest of your life.

As previous poster stated..... He only gets the signing bonus.

He has to make the roster in order to receive the salary during the season.

Then next season as well. He has to make the roster.

If he gets cut at any point, he stops getting paid.

That money will give him and his family a good start in life. Who says he can't have a regular job after football. Alfred comes from a good family and is a well grounded kid, he won't blow it all on bling like many do.

Good for him. He always did his job for LSU no matter the circumstances and never bitched about it. That hard work is paying off now.

What, they die at 29?

I get what you're saying, his NFL career will be over before he hits 30. We've been through the arguments on why many players should stay in school and how later round money isn't what they think it will be, but this is NOT one of those situations. Blue was a player who probably made the right move by entering the draft, he has a good contract and a good opportunity here, and he has the potential to be well ahead in life. Who says that he has to retire at 30? When he finishes his NFL career, he can get a job like everyone else. Having represented himself and LSU well while he was here, doors will be open for him in Louisiana after his playing days are over.

This. A paycheck like that should/will change your life forever, if you manage your money going forward.

Blue has a degree. He is also a well-regarded Tiger who stayed in state to play college football, something that will be a great benefit to him in future if he returns to Louisiana when his pro football career ends. He'll be fine.

so he's guaranteed like 75,000 after taxes with the signing bonus. Not bad imo

ETA: I see they staggered the bonus over 4 years so 30k a year. He gets maybe 20k of that?
