So there's nothing to criticize Saban for in terms of not winning titles.

i'm not criticizing him. i think he's a fabulous coach.

i'm just making the point to all those people who "critized" miles for not accomplishing this in 2006.

There were a lot people on here blasting him. making comments that saban would have won more than 1 n.c. with all that talent.

there were talk shows, newspaper articles, and many message boards lighting up over this issue.

why? because he isn't saban, they wanted saban back, and felt saban would have won those two games. especially at Au where he had never won before.

my point, all coaches go through these challenges. however, for some reason, miles is held to higher standard.

i wonder why. Bama fans aren't really any different than LSU fans FYI

Bama went from top of the mountain to awful. Saban came in and brought them back to the top. He does nothing to embarass the program and is very professional in doing so. He has tons of respect as a knowledgeable coach. Last year bama lost at Arky and LSU (hardly anything to be ashamed about) and then were blowing out Auburn and lost in 2nd half. I can't think of many teams in CFB that win NT and don't have the same focus the next year. Players are young and they don't have the same drive and also every team is gunning for them. Should the Bama fans go nuts for last seasons record? I don't think so they know the program is sound.

Les did the same in his first 3 years at LSU...

I will always defend the guy. He is a great football coach. He did great things here. Any true LSU fan would be thankful for everything he did for LSU so why hate on him? He didn't leave LSU for Bama.

I never say anything to "hate" on saban. He did an amazing job turning lsu around. But what i dont understand are those that can't give the same credit and support to the current highly successful coach. It's like Miles is held to a different standard and really unrealistic expectations.

Just shut up. Saban just went 21-3 over the last 3 SEC regular seasons. Sure they slipped last year but they have won 2 of 3 SEC West Titles

yeah, is that because shula's players are gone?

my point isn't to knock saban. just stating how those talking points were/are absurd/unfair.

just trying to give the negative nelly's who beat this drum something to think about. you can say this crap about any coach.

I believe that stems from some of his blunders that are magnified by the media. But I also believe him staying has shut up some of the haters.

3 years of horrible offense with exceptional talent(per all the so called experts) has made his job more difficult. I think the fear of returning to mediocrity makes it tougher for him with the fan base. We have tasted success and want to remain relevent in CF.

Again I ask... why does giving Saban credit or admitting he is a good coach and did good things for LSU equal hating Les?

Les is held to a different set of standards... LSU was a very talented and deep team when Les took the job and only a year removed from a National Title. He is expected to maintain that (which he has) but yes he had higher expectations based on what is built. Had he inherited a team coming off multiple losing records and did what he has done then he would be viewed much like Saban.

we lost to 2 inferior teams IMO in 2006 by shooting ourselves in the foot.

Aubrun was arguably his worst coaching perfomance in his career. We were clearly better than Auburn on both sides of the ball.

Alabama had major secondary issues last season, they had to replace a lot of defense. 2006 LSU was great on both sides of the ball

not valid because LSU '06 >>>>>>>>>>> Bama '10 and its not even close. That 2006 team may have been the best ever to wear purple and gold.
