Lee is just a confusing individual. He has the drives against Florida, then looks awful in the Bama game with his jump passes and being afraid to get hit, yet comes up big with the throw to Randle at the end

You just described the entire LSU career of both JJ and JL. Confusing. The only real question is how much of it on the QB's and how much on Crowton?

I agree that's alot of attrition but it seems that we are looking at 23 minimum. That would be 7 that would need to be gone.2 more guys will not be that hard to figure out.Of course i hate to see any kid that wants to be at LSU asked/persuaded to leave but it is the coaches decision.

QB-Mettenberger/possibly Brissett=1 maybe 2
Wr-Beckham/maybe 1 of Duron Carter,Eli Rogers=1 maybe 2
TE-Possibly O' Leary
OL-Robinson or Region/Think we'll definitely take 1 of them if we can=1
DE-Rasco/maybe Drew and looking to get Stephen Tuitt to visit=1 maybe 2
DT-Jernigan or Johnson maybe both/looking at depth i think we take both if it's possible=1 maybe 2
LB-Thompson/Paul/Maggitt/Kurz/Perryman/Turene looking to take at least 1 of them maybe 2=1 maybe 2
DB-possibly Raven or Fleming

I count at least 7 spots we'll take and could see as many as 9.Depends who the coaches are willing to turn down.We also don't yet know of any suprise guys we get in on in January. We always seem to get on someone unexpected late.Wouldn't suprise me to see anywhere from 22-25.

It doesn't appear that anyone is including the dreaded "Greyshirt" in their calculations. Some of the 2011 kids will be asked to pay it forward to 2012. That's how they'll make it work.

Unless someone has already agreed to this. I think we will try to avoid this especially because of the bad press from last year with it

As long as these discussions are taking place prior to signing day so kids have a chance to jump ship if they want its ok.

Where you look bad is if you pull the rug out from under them with a grey shirt offer after they have signed and were expecting a scholarship.

At this point, I think there are 2 different situations that could play out that changes a few of the commits:

1. Brissett Commits

QB: Mett, Brissett
WR: Beckham, Carter
OL: Robinson
DE: Rasco (Drew to UGA if Richt Stays)
DT: Jernigan, Hunter (Hunter greyshirts though)
LB: Thompson, Maggitt
DB: Fleming (I wish I could put Raven here, but I just don't see it with a numbers crunch. I keep hearing that if Fleming doesn't screw up again, he's coming.)

= 10

B. Teddy Commits

QB: Mett, Teddy
WR: OBJ, Rogers (turned it on last night in the playoffs)
OL: Robinson
DE: Rasco
DT: Jernigan, Hunter (Greyshirts again)
LB: Paul, Perryman (Thompson doesn't come with Perryman, and Paul takes Maggitt's spot)
DB: Fleming

= 10

I think we take 2 QBs, and if so, I think that's how it finishes out. Carter could still be a part of the Teddy class as the coaches are looking for a big WR still. It's going to take some attrition

I know Miles likes having 2 punters, but in a numbers crunch year of an amazing class, Botts needs to be expendable. Rivers is a greyshirt and I could possibly see Ronald Martin being one as well

how in the world does saban sign 27 to 30 every year?

I read a article in ( forbs? ), about some kind of medical scholorship?

At any rate, i think miles makes room for the must have's one way or another. Going to be some greyshirts if need be.

It is tough to inform those who will be the victims of attrition--like Davenport, Duplesis, others mentioned earlier, but this is a coach's responsibility. This will be an interesting challenge for the coaches, especially if some of those highly sought out of state prospects decide in January to get aboard. And on the chance of losing Davenport to attrition--this may well happen, but he has been a disappointment & a surprising underachiever. Maybe a fresh start elsewhere would be the answer for him.

Starting a list of candidates

Calhoun (going back to GA)

Tolliver (concussion following not much pt this year)

St. Julien (younger dbs passing him up along with a solid looking crop coming in)

Bryant( has gotten some pt but will prob never start at safety with the other young talent we have)

Dont think the qbs will leave. Not sure about any medical guys. Then there is Ridley. Not sure what will happen with this academic stuff.

I know, i really dont want to though. Like our depth there and our ability to rotate 4 guys at each position.
