If he is let out of his NLI I don't think he does but could be wrong, and if he isn't let out of it then he definitely has to sit or go overseas.

If he is let out of his NLI, then he can go wherever he wants without sitting out, assuming WKU doesn't place restrictions on his move.

I doubt they let him out of it, which would likely mean he'll go overseas or just train somewhere and go pro.

My hope is he winds up transferring here, sits out this year and pairs up with Smart and the rest of the 2018 class

Mitchell Robinson, JaVonte Smart, and maybe Nazreon Reid in 2018.

It was reported he was on campus taking classes. If that is true and he was an enrolled student for summer session I'm pretty sure he will have to sit out a year.

Does the summer session implement the requirement to sit out a full year since he would not yet be enrolled as a full time student.

He might be able to plead some type of hardship and become eligible. The NCAA has allowed some unusual immediate eligibilities in the last decade. Bruce Pearl pulled off a couple of those at Tennessee including an All SEC player.

But to take summer classes, you still have to be registered as a "student." This one is going to have a lot of twists because he may look for the hardship due to his godfather, Shammond Williams, resigning as an assistant coach as well

Evan Daniels over at Scout leads his article with this:

quote:

Western Kentucky's prized recruit and five-star prospect Mitchell Robinson has left campus and is expected to transfer, multiple sources informed Scout

Maybe that's just the initial inclination until everything gets sorted out

Was thinking maybe until the athlete is enrolled for 12 hours or more the clock would not start running. He would likely still need to be released from his letter of intent.

Claiming the resignation of his godfather as a hardship might be a stretch, but who knows, the NCAA does weird things. Maybe some family situation could " suddenly" develop.

I just can't believe that such an upstanding person as Rick Stansbury may have possibly fed this kid falsehoods and deceived him.

That's not the Rick Stansbury I know.

just on principle I hope if Mitch signs an NBA contract next year, he reimburses Chalmette High School for the cost of our trip this past season to play one game in Bowling Green, KY if indeed he is not going to play at WKU

My biggest question is why did Robinson go and enroll at classes at WKU if he knew his godfather left the school earlier this month? He should have never gone the moment that happened, maybe have really screwed himself over.
