Yes they gave him the "be loyal to your commitment" approach and now he's at the point where he wants to make his own decisions for his own happiness and life

Seems like lsu could work out his release by offering a home and home with them in bball and a football game in br.

If there is something that WKU needs to hide, they will release him rather than risk him throwing them under the bus.

He's a nice enough kid but he's got issues with grades and he's got some head issues for sure. Not a criminal or anything like that. Some question his motivation.

Sounds like Stansbury isn't going to grant a release. (Anywhere)

Where are you hearing that, or just assuming because he suspended him despite him leaving the school

I won't comment on this kid specifically, but I've heard this is more common than most realize when talking about big men in basketball.

The thought process goes that if you see a short guy pursuing basketball you know he loves the game because it's not really a game for short guys. With big men, they may not have ever been that interested in playing, but they were always taller and they may be skilled so it came easy. So they just kept playing because that's what everyone expected them to do and what else would they do as a 6'10" to 7' guy.

I had never really thought about it until it was mentioned on a podcast in relation to Austin Nichols who was at Memphis and then transferred to UVA and got kicked off the team there. There were questions about how much he really wanted to play basketball at all.

So was his godfather forcifully resigned there, or did he just up and leave?

Sounds like 1 of 2 scenarios:

- He couldn't coach for shite so they made him resign but hoped since he delivered Mitchell that would be enough to keep him there- ultimately that backfired on them

- Godfather got a hefty payment from WKU as an assistant whatever and figured that was enough to go back where he wanted. Basically a huge payment to land Robinson to his godfather and left, ultimately screwing WKU over since they paid him and dont end up with Mitchell

I've never heard his grades to be an issue and this is straight from teachers and assistant principals at CHS... Will say this about his motivation... Following Mitch's career and social media for two years, I think its pretty clear he enjoys the fruit of his success. He picked up basketball late, but I don't think anyone who really doesn't want to becomes one of the best big men in NOLA history

Sorry guys, it's an assumption. But Stansbury is calling him a member of the team. That's not a statement a coach puts out if they're planning on letting him transfer.

I read it as either you play for WKU or you don't play anywhere.

What hasn't been brought up yet, is that earlier in this thread, someone said Mitch could sit out this season... The 2018 draft will be a big one for big men, and we'll see what 2019 is like, but I wonder if it would help his draft stock to be in a weaker big man class

Watching a little highlights of him I can see motivation being an issue. He seems lackadaisical and snow birds a lot more than he should considering he is a super athletic big man. That could be because the competition he was playing, but he did it a lot in the all star games too

He will just go overseas and play one year and then be draft eligible in 2018 if Stansbury continues to be a dick.

Went to watch him when they played my kid's high school, and he really looked a little lazy on the court - however, he was playing against mostly short white kids so he was probably bored. Looking at his highlights, he is way more athletic and impressive than that one game showed. I think he'll get it done at the next level when the competition is there.

Been told Western Kentucky coach Rick Stansbury blocked only C-USA schools on WKU's "permission to contact" with Mitchell Robinson.
