He was already enrolled if I'm not mistaken before his uncle left.

He should have never gone the moment that happened, maybe have really screwed himself over.
It really departs from his previously establish pattern of good decision making. You know, like transferring to basketball power Chalmette (no offense owl), and committing to Western Kentucky.

I'm not gonna lie, when he blew up in the rankings before his senior year, I thought he might leave us for someone like Findlay, etc. Some people were saying he should have

He should have to reimburse Butch for his first half performance in the State semi-final game.

IDK if he is eligible immediately, but even if he has to sit a year he would be a 100% take. The team we are looking to have next year is really starting to look great.

I would rather him sit out a year. Come in with Wades first class and have a great shot at a tourney run

just on principle I hope if Mitch signs an NBA contract next year, he reimburses Chalmette High School for the cost of our trip this past season to play one game in Bowling Green, KY if indeed he is not going to play at WKU

Don't think playing here is worth waiting a year for an NBA paycheck... If he comes to LSU, its this season, or never

I presume he already knows the NCAA is going to grant him a waiver or he wouldn't be considering any colleges

If LSU gets him and he is eligible this season the transformation of this team in 3 months time is stunning. Its already extremely impressive, but for a new coach to add 2 top 50 players long after national signing day has passed is amazing. Then add the transfers who are eligible to play with a core group of good holdover players ( Reath, Sampson, Mays, Sims, Epps) and a top third of the SEC finish is a real possibility. Dancing in March is not unrealistic, even without Robinson.

He's a top 10 player. Even if he transfers and sits out he will still most likely be a 1 and done.

My guess is if he doesn't get a waiver and play for a college this season he'll go to Europe and play. He isn't going to sit out a year. He'll be in the NBA in 2018 either way.

ChalmetteOwl, remember over year ago I said I thought he was a head case. Hope he comes to LSU but I stand by my statement.
Might have been 2 years ago.

For those that follow recruiting rankings, adding Robinson would boost LSU to the 8th ranked recruiting class in 2017. That doesn't factor in grad transfers (Combs) either, fwiw.
The roster turnover has been impressive regardless of what happens with MR, but this would only hammer that home even more so.

I'm sure 8 is very good for us (it's good for anyone), but out of curiousity, what did a typical LSU class rank over the last 5 or 6 years?

Per 247 rankings....
2016: 56
2015: 10 (Simmons, Blakeney)
2014: 44
2013: 6 (Mickey, Martin, TQ)
2012: 52
2011: 68
So barely averaging a top-40 class in that time frame even though you had two top-10 classes. Ridiculous.

Same story on UK 247 site
LINK
"Former five-star center Mitchell Robinson has left Western Kentucky, casting his future plans for this season in doubt.
Western Kentucky’s student paper, the WKU Herald, tweeted about Robinson’s absence.
Robinson’s godfather, former North Carolina star Shammond Williams, was on the Western Kentucky staff when Robinson signed. But Williams resigned earlier in July, casting some doubt about whether Robinson would stay in the fold. But because Robinson made it to campus and enrolled in classes, it’s unclear what his next step could, or would, be.
A McDonald’s All-American, Robinson was the No. 1 center and the No. 8 overall player in the 247Sports Composite. He originally committed to Texas A&M before decommitting and later selecting Western Kentucky over in-state LSU, among other schools."
