That sucks! We don't need egg on our face. As someone mentioned earlier, this would do a lot for us recruiting Katy, it's a freakin factory.

Does anybody know if his offer was for RB or CB? I am only asking this because in another thread, there was a possibility that he could be a C.B

As said earlier, Katy football is as good as it gets in Texas 5A. I have seen the kid play and he is a straight baller. The fact that he was leading rusher from Katy HS as a soph should tell you all you need to know. I will go watch him again this year and report. Really hope we get this kid. Who is recruiting him? Henry?

Was just about to ask if anyone other than Taylor and his coach had confirmed this. Usually people don't run with commits unless one of the sites has confirmed.

Now it makes sense why it hasn't been confirmed.

Also again brings to the forefront the dangers of giving baseless offers. I understand the noncommitable offer and the reasons behind them but coaches have to fully vet these kids and their wants before just spouting off baseless offers and having kids ready to pounce on them and having to give the kid the disapointing news that they aren't accepting their commitment at this time. Bad business imo and can lead to horrible misunderstandings and bad feelings from the recruit. If you go see a kid in the spring and tell him you're offering then you damn well better accept the kids commitment or know that the kid isn't going to jump on the offer. I don't like this practice at all. Greatly devalues the offer.

I was worried that might be the case. Shades of Storm Johnson.

Agree completely lafanva. I would hate to burn bridges with a high level recruit at a major school in Texas. We need to tread lightly. I hope we get Taylor.

If Hill works out, LSU is really loaded up at RB

Well get ready for the program to get blasted if the staff doesn't accept. We seem to be the posterchild for the media when it comes to questionable recruiting practices. I can see the OTL segment already. Not that they'll tell the complete truth but perception is greater than fact in most cases.

I don't understand how a coach at a major high school doesn't know that an offer is commitable or not.

We just confirmed from sources at LSU that Adam Taylor is the newest Tiger, and the star running back comes from a pipeline school of major BCS talent year in and year out. Taylor is the tenth commitment for the 2013 class.

Those pictures of him and Monty Ball are scary.
I really couldn't tell a difference at first.

I hope that we let this guy commit. No harm in getting one back this year.

How the times have changed. Yeah, there isn't any harm in taking a top 250 running back this year.

Briefly spoke with Katy's head coach: "I don't know anything about it (Adam Taylor committing to LSU. You're the 2nd one who has called."

Katy's head coach (Gary Joseph) called back and said, yes, that his four-star RB (Adam Taylor) committed to LSU.

A coach and player not knowing an offer is commitable happens all the time. What I don't get is how a kid and coach can mistake a commitment and how our staff left that conversation open to any misinterpretation. Unless Taylor and his coach found a new way to commit without contacting the staff then this is on whatever coach or coaches they talked to. If a kid calls and says he wants to commit and the staff isn't accepting it then there is no way that conversation can end in a misunderstandment where the kid thinks he indeed was accepted. In that case, which this seems to be, the coach dropped the ball and left the conversation too open to interpretation. It's pretty simple. You either welcome the kid to the family or you flat out tell the kid that you're not accepting his commitment at this time and are going to continue evaluating him. After that call the hs coach and reiterate the situation and make sure that's it's understood that the commitment is not being accepted at this time. This is completely on the staff if he wasn't accepted and still thinks he was.

The only other scenario I could see is similar to the Robinson one earlier where the staff informed Taylor that they'll accept when he visits and the kid just went ahead and went public with the thought that he plans to visit and make it official. In that case then it's understandable and just a matter of time. That's it though.

Edit- if the kid's coach had no clue about it and just asked the kid then all is up in the air. It could be anything if we're going purely on the kid. The kid's coach needs to call our staff and clear things up.
