I agree 100% on Harris and the future of qbs that come through BR.

According to Barton Simmons, Thompson didn't show enough at the camp to be THE 2017 QB. LSU plans on taking two QBs in the 2017 class. I could see us taking an OOS guy who more refined and Thompson as a developmental guy.

Yeah he didn't get it done at Elite camp. But Frankly I think Felipe is the man and we need to target a 2018 stud like Dinkelman.

I think if Harris shows out this season, it changes many perspectives on who wants to come to LSU and play QB. We need Harris to ball! Cam needs Harris to ball!

Agree. A solid season by a young QB can show others we are headed into the right direction. Last year was not all the QBs fault, although they were a major part of it. Harris plays well and shows development, others perception change. I can't blame any recruit for being nervous about playing QB here after last year, and the years before Mett came.

I know Connor Curry''s older brother personally and have been around Connor. I promise you he's at least 6'1" and will end up 6'1"-6'3". I haven't gotten to watch him play but he definitely will have the height he's listed at or more.

Yeah I think with Franks coming in 2016, and with our current group, I can see:
1) Harris going until SR year, gone after 2017 unless he has a break out year his JR year.
2) Jennings will be gone after 2016.
3) Franks will probably redshirt unless he just comes and his learning curve is awesome.
4) I can see Etling Playing at least 1 season between Harris and Jennings Leaving, but will probably play backup to Franks.

So to sum it up, we have the QB's, and it looks like Cam is finally getting through to them. His style and system seem to be taking hold and I would say this is our year and its Harris's job to lose.

Jennings will play some when we want to run the ball and we get ahead of a team like McNeese St.

Fact of the matter is we are poised recruiting, coaching, players, team, to really be great over the next 5-7 years...

This very well could be how it goes down BUT I didn't see McMillians name mentioned. I know it's a hard thought to process for most, but this guy is a big sleeper recruit. He is overshadowed by our QB drama and higher rated recruits but make no mistake...he is the real deal.
If Harris takes care of business then we may never see him, but if not Justin may get his shot in 2016 while Franks RS. Down vote away if you need to but info came from very high on the food chain.

I've got an idea, how about we recruit a QB that fits our system instead of the dual threat guys that we keep trying to change?

Guys that fit our system seem to not want to play for us for some reason.

Yeah you are right Bowtie. its unfortunate that he is such a talent and in our back yard.

I think that is what burns most. He is a LA product. If her were from any of the other 49 states this would be a non issue and no one would be mad. Ray Charles can see that this kid was built for a spread offense.

IF Harris can improve a lot this year and become a top 4-5 Sec qb. It would help us recruit better qb talent in 2017 and into the future.

Let's hope we take a QB in 17. We need one every year. Not to repeat mistakes of the past.

I think we'll end up with Hunter Johnson and Keytaon Thompson. Johnson is very open to leaving Indiana and Cam will use the frick out of his connections to get him down here. It will probably be a blessing that Lowell went to AU. He doesn't fit a pro style attack whatsoever. A running QB with a bum knee is a scary proposition.

Harris will play until at least his junior year (2016)

Franks will RS that year

If Harris goes pro early then Justin will be the guy for a season IMO

If Harris stays till senior season

Justin should very much RS this season. Could play huge later. Which is why we need Jennings to back up Harris this year to allow that RS.

By RS Justin could very well get his turn to be a very veteran starter (Redshirt Senior) if Harris stays till senior season and then Franks starts for 2 seasons and goes pro.

I have always envisioned this scenario that while the others may be on another talent level, McMillian is a guy that is willing to wait his turn and very well be the perfect transition to keep us a national title contender just by experience in the system. Like how Flynn was a one year starter.

It's late and the math may be off but if Franks starts as a RS freshman and RS sophomore then goes pro.. Because he's that good. Then Justin is the perfect guy to fill in that final year and we can still be serious contenders. He would be a RS senior

I just really like the idea of red shirting all freshman quarterbacks because it gives time to develop and far more options. Even if guys like Franks leaves early you still have guys like Justin ready. That one year starting would have made his wait all the worth it. Could be so special.

I am with you 100% Jeff but I kind a like the way we are recently handling it.

2014 - stud Harris
2015 - 3 star Mcmillian Project with upside
2016 - stud Franks
2017 - Thompson - better project with higher upside
2018 - stud Dinkelmen

So, beauchristopher makes an impressive summary of the 2017 QB situation.

On a related topic: although it would have been tremendous to get the verbal of Narcisse, remember the class of 2016 is still being filled, and NSD in February of 2017 is over a year and a half away--plenty of time for LSU to make a strong bid for someone else like Keytaon Thompson. And yes, it's nice to know there's another in-state QB recruit like Thompson who could possibly eventually be part of the Class of 2017.

I agree with you. That's why I didn't mention him. He is a sleeper that could be a Manzel type QB, not Manzel, but a Manzel type.

You're probably right...but I have a feeling that McMillan might be a lot better than he's given credit for.
