Anyone else have a profound love for sandbags?

One of the biggest difference makers I've experienced. Face it, a barbell is an incredibly convenient way to lift weight. 200lbs on a barbell is routine, 135lbs in a sandbag is a legit struggle.

I did Field Strong, a great program from Power Athlete, and there was an entire training block dedicated to sandbags. I came out of it much more stable in barbell movements, and my forearms have never been stronger or my trunk more stable.

Curious if anyone else has experience here.

I do but my sandbag is just a 50 lbs bag wrapped in Canvus and duct tape. Need to get me some bags for heavy lifts.

I have a duffle full of rocks and hiking backpack with an 80 lb bag of quickcrete. It’s legit.

I also love loaded carries at the gym as a finisher.

I just went to HomeDepot and picked up a bag this week and wrapped it in Duct Tape to do rucks around my neighborhood with.

A bag from the store can easily work, but having something with handles can really challenge you.

For anyone interested in a formal bag, I have the Battle Bag from Onnit and really like it:

The trainer at my gym loves them. We walk with them, run with them, squats, lunges...

Not in a program, but this time of year is deer season prep. I'm carrying 40-50# bags of corn, seed, fertilizer a couple hundred yards down woods trails. I should be using a 4 wheeler like the other guys, but I'm getting a workout doing it. I've noticed it's easier now than a few years ago when I didn't lift.

My grip strength goes first, for this stuff and for deadlifts.
