I feel the same things have been consistently mentioned for you to know it's not just one poster blowing smoke

Creativity
Quality
Longevity

As stated previously, these games stand the test of time. Lttp and zelda 2 I haven't played though if you play ocarina, I'd recommend 3ds. It is the definitive version of the best game ever made. You only get that feeling once. I'd go 3ds

Zelda chronology is s peach compared to Metroid.

TP and SS were great. SS is definitely the most cinematic zelda experience and the best story

Tired of hearing the nostalgia reason for any game some people might not be in to. Minus a few hiccups, they are great games. Some of my favorite gaming memories. Seeing a 3D Hyrule Field for the first time will never be forgotten.
While this post contradicts itself, it's still true. ALttP was revolutionary in terms of the size and depth of the game for that console. OoT, while riding the massive nostalgia wave, was also revolutionary in the terms that it was the first game to implement the Z-Targeting system and was one of the first fully open world 3D games ever. (Not to mention the controls were absolutely flawless. It still holds up well today.) Twilight Princess was the first swordfighting game where you could actually swing the sword yourself and actually aim the bow/hookshot (for the Wii), and Skyward Sword only added onto that technology while also implementing item upgrades, making rupees actually valuable, and implementing stamina and a sprint. Yes, nostalgia is a huge factor, but every game brought something new to the table. That's the main thing with Zelda. It never got stale or repetitive because Nintendo has done a masterful job of bringing something new and POSITIVE with every release. With that said, Skyward Sword was the first Zelda I ever started and didn't finish. Bored me to tears.

maybe old Zelda, have you played the last two main releases?

Ive played every Zelda but Seasons.

You have those items you might not use a lot, but those weren't dungeon items.

So would I have to give an example from every single zelda have I've played for it to not be nostalgic?

No. You just started your post with nostalgia not being the reason why these games are great, and you ended your post being nostalgic. It didn't help your point.

Point taken, but when I hear "nostalgia" here, I take it to mean that we have fond memories of the game, but it wouldn't hold up if we were to play them again. I can go back to pretty much any Zelda game and still enjoy it. I played through OoT recently and it was great.

It's like the LeBron crowd on the MSB who think the only reason some of us would think Jordan is still the GOAT is because of nostalgia. No, I can still watch video of him and confirm how great and innovative he was.

I found it different but fun... harder to engage in the story.

One of the best experiences with a Zelda title was recently in October for Zelda: A Link Between Worlds (the LttP revamp).

That game was playful, fun, challenging and had some of the best dungeons ever in any Zelda title. Really really enjoyed this on 3DS X fckking L!!!!!

That is the longest game. I played for hours everyday when I was between jobs. It took me nearly two weeks to beat it.

The only thing I didn't like about Skyward Sword was that it seemed too linear, and nothing was that challenging. Probably the only Zelda game where I never felt stuck.

Nostalgia has a little bit to do with it but it's really the story that makes them so great.

WindWaker for me had the greatest twist to it when you find out what happened to Hyrule and where it is.

I'm currently playing WindWaker at the moment and enjoying it quite a bit. I was worried because I just didn't like the animation style of the game, but it's been easy enough to ignore.

I've never actually finished OOT- and it's still far and away one of the best games I've ever played. I will be buying OOT whenever the port the 64 games over to Wii U.

I seriously hate all of y'all. I have a giant laundry list of purchases, and the Wii U keeps creeping up that list.

How many Zelda games are available on it? Sounds like OoT is out, but if I ever find my 64 again (how I lost it in a 1 bedroom apt is BEYOND me) I'll be covered there.

At first, I was a little iffy about it too. But it actually works pretty well if you give it a chance.

Reading this makes me want to play WW again. I kept my Gamecube specifically for WW and OOT alone.
