Web surfing machine, $400 budget

the guy only wants it for easy htpc stuff and surfing like he said. Considering it has a 120gb ssd and an a10 for $396, I think we did pretty damn good.

Internets show those possibly breaking 400 but not always. 7870 GHz pitcairns doing 380-420. Tahiti core might be still limited by the memory since it's scrypt mining.

If he does decide to do some light gaming, I'd recommend he spring for a second stick of that mem at that point, because with an APU you are looking at a 15%+ speed boost in memory-intensive apps-- which will be noticeable in gaming but not so much in the other stuff. Plus, the extra capacity is going to be necessary since the APU graphics will be accessing it.

How much better is that than a 7870 ghz mining wise?

They're held back because they run extremely hot for some reason. They hash almost exactly the same as the 7870ghz. I haven't seen one online that breaks 450. They also use more power.

For some reason I didn't notice this pic until now.

That's gonna be one loud motherfricker when you start mining.

EDIT: I have a pump/res and radiators for sale (yeah, I'm lazy and never listed them anywhere).

They run hot because they are leaky 7950s. So more wattage to drive them.

AMD produces 7970s and they are binned for 7950s and then some of those scraps become 78070 XTs.

If I can get a deal for this XT then I'm going to go ahead and grab it, then grab a 7870ghz.

I should be getting around 1600kh/s with that setup, right?

420avg for my 7870/270X and the 290 is getting 910avg, so I say more.

These cards really do not suck the juice you would think, simply because you're not OC'ing the core. You can down volt the shtt out of your cards and just OC the memory.

My miners are inside my attic ATM.

I use TeamViewer to check up on the whole PC.

EDT: No way I could take the heat it put off in my computer room, and to top that, the noise of that 290.

You're mining with a 270x? I'm getting about 480kh/s on all three of mine, so let me know if you want my settings to try.

Yeah I have one, IDK don't remember which each one is hashing at, but they are avging 420. My Powercooler I know get 450-460, because I had those when I first started.

I think im using the settings you gave me. Will post what they are.

Let me know if you are interested in a 7870. No one has bit on mine yet and now the 2 b stock cards from evga are out of stock so I should probably pull it.

Are those 7870s? Looking forward to those screenshots.

Or is that a 270x, same brand as mine???

If 270x, you can get more out of it.
