I decided to get Steam the other day and I've been playing Civ 5. I've come to ask the board what good games I could pick up for about $10. Also, I understand that they have big sales occasionally? I saw Knights of the Old Republic was on there and I'm interested in that, although never playing it. Is there anything else out there worth looking at?

TIA

I wish Rollercoaster Tycoon wasn't $20

Typically most good games stay in the 15-20 range even when somewhat old unless there are really good sales, but the sales do happen fairly often. You should be able to get good deals (10-25 bucks) on stuff Witcher 1 and 2, Skyrim, The Fallout games, Mass Effect 1 and 2, Dragon age origins and other stuff depending on your taste in games.

Marvel Heroes is free and incredibly fun and addicting.

It is what Diablo 3 still is not.

There is sooo much to do in MH.

When you find the fallout games for $5 scoop them up. You'll be glad you did.

Don't look for deals on just steam. You can purchase steam keys from many other sites that run their own sales.

See if you can pick up Bioshock 1/2/infinite.

Borderlands 1/2. I have not played 2 yet.

Cheap indy types: FTL and World of Goo both at one point had me hooked.

I'd find stuff I like and add it to my wishlist. Then wait for it to go on sale.

As for recommendations... portal 1 & 2, crusader kings 2.

Kerbal Space Program was 40% off this weekend, that is a must get, game is ridiculously fun.

ARMA 2/ARMA 2 OA when it is on sale is worth a grab if you want to try DayZ out without spending a lot of money.

Goat Simulator is actually pretty good for a laugh.

Counter Strike:GO, Borderlands, Kerbal Space Program, Left 4 Dead 1/2, Payday 1/2, Portal 1/2, Team Fortress 2. Summer sale is usually pretty big, wait for that before you buy to much.

ETA: TigerDroppings has a group on steam.

Door Kickers
Prison Architect

I like lower prices strategy games. Also, both are independent developers which is pretty cool.

Thanks everybody, I'll keep everything in mind. I'll probably just wait until a sale, because I'm content with Civ right now. When in the summer do they usually have the big sale?
