Just put the disc in a few minutes ago. Should be able to get going here in another minute.

Insanity is no joke. Seems to have gotten harder from the trial.

So apparently Amazon took the time to send me a physical game case with a digital code inside. What is the purpose of having a physical case without a physical game? Oh well, looks like I get to wait 5 hours for this 45GB game to download.

Yeah and the auto saves seem completely random. I clear an objective but then I die and have to re do the whole fricking thing.

The cover system is giving me a few derpy moments. And I'm only a little ways into the game but I'm really hoping for the opportunity to sacrifice Liam for the cause.

Liam kept on dying on me for some reason compared to Cora. Using Jaal and Peebee right now and liking them. Peebee sets up nice combos. Might try Drack out but I don't like his character as much.

Also realized pretty early on that the assault turret and much of the tech tree seems to suck. Switched to a more biotic/combat loadout and I'm having a much easier time killing shite.

From what I've seen from gameplay clips, it looks like many of the criticisms being thrown on the game are warranted, but do you guys think that the seemingly mass outrage may be the result of some leftover vitriol regarding how the ending of ME:3 was handled?

It seems like the fans have lost faith in Bioware and are taking every opportunity to shite on their product. ME:1 is probably my favorite game in the series and it was buggy as hell, yet reviews were positive IIRC.

Definitely.

This is Bioware only in name. It isn't their true development team. It's the shite C-level team.

It was the first major game of the series. Bugs are expected. It was also such a well-done and expansive game that the bugs were there, but only an afterthought. A professional company of their caliber should not make mistakes like that on their 4th, 5th, 6th, etc., games.

Bioware is not the same caliber that it used to be. They put out a serviceable product still, but the magic is gone.

I'm a long time lurker and your hatred of the ME:3 ending borders on legend at this point

I'm just trying to gauge whether this game was doomed from the start because of the ME:3 debacle or, if after the kneejerk reactions subside, it will be considered a solid title separate from the original trilogy (though comparisons are inevitable)

All concerns aside, I'm a huge Mass Effect fan and even though I felt burned by the original trilogy's ending (including the hackneyed PowerPoint add on), I'm probably going to wind up pulling the trigger on this simply because I love the universe too much to pass on it.

I really had issues with many aspects of the game. The ending was just an annoyance.

People focus mainly on that as the game's biggest problem, but they fricked the story up majorly long before that point in 3.

I will probably buy it when it is cheaper or I can find it used.

I don't know what everyone is bitching about. Is it perfect? No.

Is it fricking Mass Effect? Y-E-S YES YES YES

The multiplayer is fun as shite, the combat is fun (outside of the no squad powers and derpalicious cover system), and the setting is great.

8/10 in the 3 hours I got to play last night.

multiplayer
One of the biggest issues I had with ME:3. Waste of development time. Not every game, especially not RPGs, needs a MP mode.

ME:3 had many other issues other than the ending and one of the biggest was the multiplayer. It felt shoehorned in and, despite being competent, the fact that it had ANY impact on the story was egregious.

I always said it felt like someone had given a thoughtful, well-written indie series over to Michael Bay

Andromeda reeks of EA corporate meddling, but even if it winds up being just a B-movie like entry in the series, I'll probably be appeased (which is right were EA wants me )

Correct me if I am wrong, but a different team did the multiplayer development for ME3 and that is the team that did this whole game.

So the ME3 multiplayer development did not hinder the main game development if we are to believe that.
