Did you not play as a kid or just the 3DS remaster?

He gave it another chance, I'll give him that. I just think you either love or hate the 3 Day Cycle. I can understand why people don't love Majora's Mask, even if I think it is overall the best Zelda game. I love it for how unique it is, the tone, and pressure the game puts on you. A lot of people don't want that in a Zelda game. That's perfectly fine to be honest.

The absolute best is EverQuest, some of those old dungeons like Sebilis. Planes of Power was pretty impressive. They really took that whole thought process of MMORPG raiding to a whole different level.

Didn't even think of this and you are right!

I agree with all of your picks, especially...

The 3 cycle is a rush, which takes the free exploring out if Zelda. I personally love the ominous feeling throughout. The 3 day cycle gave a sense of importance to every task, you felt like you needed to make a difference.

Plus, I'm a dark individual. My theme song would be all notes in a minor key. So Majora's Mask stuck with me more than any other Zelda title.

I've talked about this here before, but I also don't particularly care for Majora's Mask, though I've tried. I like Zelda for it's sense of exploration and solving puzzles in fun dungeon's. The time limit makes me feel like I should be doing tasks for the people in Termina rather than exploring and it's light on dungeons compared to other Zelda games. I always lose steam around the second dungeon each time I attempt playing it.

I'm sure I'll try it again one day but it has yet to grab me.

Plus Majora I think is the most underrated video game of all time. Just pure fricking evil. Maybe the single most evil character I can think of. Seriously, think of all the shite he does.

1) Destroys the world and everyone in it dozens of times before Link is able to stop him.
2) Possesses a lonely and frightened child.
3) Locks away the child's friends who are the only ones who can possibly stop him.
4) Rips apart a marriage by transfiguring a young man into a boy.
5) Murders a boy in front of his father.
6) Transfigures a boy into a plant.
7) Steals property and pawns it off.
8) Cripples an old woman leaving her to die alone.
10) Poisons the water supply of a local economy.
11) Destroys all the Great Fairies of the area.
12) Abducts a princess and leaves the blame to another, which results in him getting lynched.
13) Causes a brutal winter leaving many to die and starve.
14) Abducts a girl and her cattle and then lobotomizes the girl.
15) Warms the ocean killing anything not hostile that lived there.
16) Abducted a woman's children and then murders the father who tries to stop him.
17) Transfigures a father into a mindless monster, leaving his 5 year old daughter to look after him.
18) Forms a hell for the undead to where they will never be able to move on even after he's destroyed the world.

I mean even the Joker would say "OK, I think we've gone a bit too far here." And he doesn't do this for power, he does it because it's fun and for his own amusement. His goal is murder/suicide. He really is the darkest villain in video game history.

What about the first time you went to the moon and witnessed skull kid sitting alone under the only tree while all otherunar kids played happily around him.... still one of my greatest gaming moments, and sadest.

The mask is pure evil. Didn't the elders of the T world trap all evil within it?

I'll throw a token nomination to de_dust2 and cs_office. There's a reason they are the most-played maps in multiplayer shooter history.

HL1 is my pick for best overall lvl design until the platforming nightmare on Zen!

So HL2 takes its place. Ravenholm propels it above all others. Fckk Ravenholm, seriously.... Fckk Ravenholm

Such a great and haunting image, especially when compared to how the game was before it. You expect when you go up to the Moon to find a massive dungeon. Instead it's just a tree with children playing under it, with Majora possessing yet another lonely, confused child. The whole game is fricking brilliant. If they were to make a Zelda movie, I'd say this is the plot you'd go with.

Kafei/Anju one of my favorite subplots ever. I'd love to write a short story or screenplay using it as the basis

It was the most beautiful scene and first time I remember being taken back in a video game.

Perfect like you stated.

Double post from my phone.

Edt: My wallpaper for most of my smart phone life has been some MM image. Be it skull kid or the mask itself.

I'm 33 and have played nearly every Zelda game. They were designed for kids. It has nothing to do with my badassery or badassness.
Just...no. Majora's Mask is way too complex for a 9 year old. We're thinking about these in retrospect having already discovered everything. Can you imagine a 9 year old playing Majora's Mask blind having to manage the cycle of time alone? Please. I played OoT when I was 9. I had no idea what to do after the child dungeons. Those games didn't hold your hand at all.
