Here in Lake Charles, the one on MLK is worthless, but the ones on Prien Lake Rd and on Country Club Rd. are still pretty good.

Popeyes is an intesting story. I actually know the CEO and VP of Marketing. The company definitely wrestles with it's identity and the perception of being an ethnic business. Popeyes has grown tremendously over the past 10 years. Much of this is due to a change in the American food market(organic this and low cal that) and KFC recognizing that there are better opportunities in Asia and leaving the States. In many cases Popeyes has stepped into the voids created when KFC jumps ship.

I'll shoot them a link and see what they say..

The chicken pieces are tiny. They are all batter and no meat. They look the same as they used to but when you start eating, the batter is about 1/2" thick and there is about about 1/2" of air between the batter and the meat. Very disappointing.

Popeye's sides are just about the only thing left that's good. Had some when home and it just wasn't the same.

I enjoyed everything about Popeye's 15 years ago.

Now the only thing that's still good is their biscuits IMO. I get my chicken from Canes nowadays.

I think the chicken pieced depend on the franchise owner. The guy in BR looks like he buys the super small pieces. The one in Walker seems to have bigger pieces and you never get a small piece on Magazine.

Lake CharlesCountry Club Rd.Yep. Great staff at that location. It's the only one I go to in Lake Charles. I often hit Ball's on Common St. when I'm in that area.

I have not had Popeye's in years, I can remember when Copeland ran it and it was top notch, the last time was terrible. Fried chicken, even the good stuff, is pretty unhealthy, so why bother with surly dirty employees, indifferent service, high prices and slow service.

A Popeyes biscuit used to be a thing of beauty, now I can get better biscuits at a hamburger chain.

It's my favorite fast-food chicken, but the service is so terrible that I stopped going there about 3 years ago. They NEVER got my order right, whether it was in the drive-through or inside. They were also slow as hell, usually taking 20-30 minutes to fill my order.

I attempted to try them again two months ago. I walked in and there were two people in front of me. Ten minutes later, there will still the same two people waiting in front of me and I had not yet ordered. I walked out, and I will not be back until they make some major changes in their service.

If the service was better, I would probably eat there once a week. As it stands, it haven't been in three years and have no plans to go back.

Very true. The crew in Port Vincent is very good and the restaurant is clean. I also find the one on Highland near the interstate is pretty good. Both sites in Gonzales are bad with the Airline store being the worst of the two. I like the spicy chicken but I find myself more and more going to a local owned Leaders restaurant.

The why is simple, Al Copeland has not been a part of the business for almost twenty years.

Well, darn it. We're stuck up here in NE OH with work and I see we have a Popeye's one town over. Was gonna get the hubby to stop in the next time we're over that way. Now I'm wondering if it's even worth the effort, let alone the $$$.
