I feel like everyone had the experiences growing up when the kids were home with dad. There was no chance he was whipping up some multiple course meal like mom did, but I'll be damned if it wasn't one of the tastier meals of your childhood (health and diet concerns be damned ).

For us, dad's go-to was a chili-dog with sour cream, crushed-up cooler ranch Doritos, and shredded cheese on top. The order was the most important, had to spread the sour cream on the dog first, then crumble the Doritos, before spooning on the chili and then topping it with the shredded cheese. And he wasn't getting peppers and tomatoes to mix-up some 20 ingredient chili (there's a game to watch dammit). This is pop-the-top from some canned Hormel, heat it up, and go. I recreated the meal the other night, and holy hell was I a happy camper.

His other go-to was to make spaghetti with chili (out of the can again, of course), chopped jalapenos, shredded cheese, and then he'd add fried eggs to the top. It mixes up into one obnoxiously gooey blob of deliciousness.

What yal got?

My dad always made Tombstone pizzas if he was in charge of dinner, and they definitely don't taste the same now as I remember. I used to love when he'd make them, now they're kinda meh.

My dad was the main cook in our family growing up. Still is. He can throw down in the kitchen. But he also will eat pickled pigs feet, straight out the gas station jar. Disgusting. Not really what you the asking but it’s what come when I read trashy redneck dad meal.

My dad would eat crackers and milk, but he'd put chocolate milk in a sauce pan, warm it up, then add crackers.

I resemble the direct correlation of trashy to redneck.

My dad cooked omelets when mom was sick. Well done omelets.

Playboy potato’s. It was scalloped potatoes, ranch dressings, sour cream, butter and shredded cheese all cooked down in a Corning Ware Visions pot

Coush coush with some homemade preserved figs in a bowl with some milk (just like cereal) and a big cup of black coffee for him and a big cup of coffee milk for me.

My dad was far from a redneck, but when he was left with dinner duties it was always bacon and pancakes.

We never had anything trashy or redneck, but definitely cheap. Lots of tuna Mac which was tuna with mayo and bread n butter pickles mixed with cooked macaroni. I’ll still make that today

If my dad had to "cook" we either went out to eat or grandmas. I have only seen that man cook oatmeal, boil shrimp, PB&J, and a few things on the grill.

Lol. My dad.

If mom wasn't cooking, it was gonna be Sonic, Baw.

In my teens we finally got a Chinese place and dad tried shrimp fried rice. He's still hooked.

My dad is low maintenance.

Damn. I don't think i've once seen my mom cook a meal, that's something my dad always did. And hamburger patty with cut up potatoes and onions on top, wrapped and baked in foil. Just ate it out of the foil so no clean up too.

My dad would take that cheap Oscar Mayer Braunschweiger Liver Sausage that comes in a tube and spread it on a saltine and slab mayo on top.

I'd walk in the kitchen and then do an about face.

My mom cooked a lot of country folk fried stuff that my city friends now call redneck food.

I guess people would laugh at all the boiled peanuts he made, but I love them.

The real redneck thing my dad was guilty of was always over cooking all meats on the grill. He came from the ignorant mindset, that the red stuff was blood and you could never ever see that even pink color on meat.

Used to go to Golden Corral 30 plus years ago and order his steaks extra well done. I saw him send plenty back and tell them to burn it some more.

Dad was all about steak, chicken, pork chops, venison, fresh ground sausage, squirrels, rabbits, duck, quail, fish.

Usually with potatoes.
