Just what the topic says. If you were having a group of friends over for a dinner party (with multiple younger children running around) what would you be serving? Would you do one meal for all? Or would you do adult meal and kid meal?

Great question. It's red beans or steak for me, unless I don't want 'em coming back. I have hot dogs for that.

Depends on the time of year.

Cooler weather, I like to do a duck and oyster gumbo.

Warmer weather, I like to do shrimp and grits.

I don't worry too much about the kids. They eat simple food. Microwave some mac & cheese, blanch a little broccoli, & cut up a hot dog.

For the adults,I just cook more of whatever I was planning on cooking.

A good pork loin or tenderloin works well. To appease kids, sides a good way to go. An adult's side of mac and cheese may well be a kid's meal.

Summer or winter? Big difference there in what I'd make.

In the winter I'd probably do Italian and make a bolognese sauce and an aglione sauce and serve them with pici pasta. I also might just make a lasagne bolognese.

In the summer I'd either smoke meat or make something on the outdoor griddle like Philly cheesesteaks. I also make surf and turf tacos with homemade guacamole and salsa fresca for friends.

I don't think I have a go-to. It more depends on when they're coming over (Fri evening, Sat lunch or evening, Sun lunch), how many are coming and if they're from here.
