Flank steak with chimmichurri, roasted asparagus and red wine of some sort. Probably a Malbec.

Yes to all of that. Malbec is my go-to red.

I would love that gumbo and potato salad Darla has as well.

Dinner for me was frozen pizza. Got home and my brother had one going.. So I stole some.

It's just so good. I have no problem eating it regularly.

It sure does. That picture should be next to the definition of gumbo in Websters.

Perfect Darla.

made the mistake of ordering takeout from Jung's tonight. Complete garbage. I may dine in there from the authentic menu again but never wasting my time with take out that they clearly put no effort into.

I really have given up on almost any Chinese food. I'll get some Five Happiness, but even that isn't close to Red's or Bao and Noodle.

LINK

Try out this place. There is another place that does a pop up that serves incredible dumplings at Barrel Proof. A friend's wife does is part of it. Called House of Dumpling.

ETA: Haven't tried the pop up, but Bao and Noodle is IMO the best I have ever had in New Orleans. By a WIDE margin. Red's is different, but very good.

I've given up on crappy American Chinese food. Viet and Thai are so much better I just don't see the need. I went to Bao one time and was like this is different, went two other times and loved it. I just had to shake off crappy food to appreciate the subtlety and skill it takes to do the real deal.

Pulled a couple pork steaks out the freezer from a hog my stepbrother shot back in the fall. Smothered them and baked a sweet potato. Turned out great.

Should be even better for lunch tomorrow.
