J Alexander's (it is a chain and I still love it)

Gino's (10 years ago)

Latils landing (outside of BR but close enough)

Roberto's (have had wonderful and awful meals there so it sure is not consistent)

Zorba's

Stroubes

Cotton club (best crabmeat au gratin ever & they sponsored my softball team)

Ruffino's

Masion lacour

Pocorello's for the muffalato

I don't see how you can honestly separate some of these factors as they are an important part of the dining experience and greatly affect how we all judge a place. Price is particularly tough. I love Chelsea's food, but wouldn't think too highly of it at Juban's prices.

Simple. I'm not talking about the dining experience. Just the food by itself. It doesn't have to be plated pretty, or served on white tablecloth. It just has to be really good, consistent, and thoughtful.

Again, not sure about this criteria. Thought? Specials? I don't expect casual dining places to score high in these categories, yet casual dining places are some of my favorite restaurants.

I know a few who i think do score high. It's not an absolute though, just one of the criteria I think is really important in demonstrating what kind of food is served and what kind of talent is in the kitchen.

Sure, but I think we need to kind of stop around there. Anything past assension and Livingston is a bit much, but yeah, I'd say it's pretty BRish.

I remember it going back to at least the very early 90's , maybe longer.

Hope the new one is just as good

Glad you started this list. Have my anniversary this Sunday and will be takin the wife out somewhere new.
Also surprised at the love for ruffinos. We've been many of times and it just does not impress me. It always inconsistent and the side pasta is something I can make at home. But to each their own.

Pretty close to mine. Ruths just doesn't do it for me but all the others are are top tier. I would add Parrains. Hard for me to understand the lists that do not include Mansur's...my favorite.
