Went last night with family. Overall, very positive.

Intimate, but lighting is low. Many people using phone flashlights to read menu.

Heavy hand on drinks. You get a double (and are charged accordingly).

Appetizers: Daughter had asparagus salad she really liked. I had shrimp and corn bisque that was very good.

Entrées: wife had crabmeat au gratin, which was full of crab and very good (I had some). Son had the filet royal, which was a good piece of meat and we'll cooked, but lacked seasoning (salt and pepper). Daughter had mussels marinara which she said was excellent. I had the lamb provincial, which was very well done. I wish the chops were bigger, but the were cooked well with a great demi glace. Came with potatoes which were very good.

Dessert: had raspberry sorbet and chocolate truffle dessert (mousse based). Very nice finish for the meal.

Highly recommend.

Nah Tom would send them to Andrea's.

Tommy's is not a bad place. Old school waiters and slightly above average food.

Tommy's is not very good. Gloppy sauces and poor versions of Creole Italian. But hey if thats your bag

If you are charged for the heavy hand, then it's not a heavy hand

Great place. Went there on my honeymoon way back when.

Can't speak to sloppy sauces, but they were solid last night with a good, tight presentation.

When is the last time you went? I went twice last year and found it to be very good both times. I think it's just about on par with Vincent's, which is one of my favorites.

I went once. Didn't love the grilled oysters with the peppers. Ordered a crab dish with whole artichoke bottoms. Asked the waiter if they were fresh. He left and returned to advise they were fresh. They were canned and awful. Tasted a good chicken dish, though.

Never been, but it sounds like he didn't do a good job with the recipes stolen from Irene.

hmm, you like Tommy's and Andrea's. Don't take it personally but I won't take any of your food opinions seriously.

Tommy's isn't as bad as Andrea's, but though neither is Olive Garden for that matter.

I was taken to Andrea's twice when we had business in the area. I didn't care for it either time. The last time my fish with crabmeat on top was bad. I ate a lot of bread and the salad and told my business partner we were never eating there again. He liked the place before, but agreed.

+1

I don't understand how this guy maintains a following for all of his mediocre establishments. The winebar can be fun but it's limited and overpriced. His place across the street changes regularly and has never been worthy of a return visit.

Back when it was Tomisito's, I loved the place. $2 margaritas on Sundays was the gas

eta: also had the best mole sauce in the city

Tomisito's was awesome when Tommy's son was running it. Went to crap when Tommy stepped in. He changed the menu, staff and ultimately the vibe of the place.

Andrea's used to be one of the ten best restaurants in the city
it has not been that for quite some time now which is a shame

I hear the fish swim right up to the door.

Can't understand why he is still in business.
