Things you've learned, discovered or realized from the F and D Board

I've gotten great recommendations, ideas, thoughts, encouragement and insights from this board.
Here are some things I've learned, discovered or realized:
1. No need to go to chains when there are good local options. It' more fun and more interesting.
2. I like cooking but I'm not all that good at it.
3. I am totally fine with not being that good at it.
4. There's a lot of people who are really good at cooking, and many who want to be.
5. A person might seem like a complete putz based on posts in the OT, MSB, etc. but on this board you come to realize they are not. It's just the internet.
6. The number of people here who are "snobs" in real life is probably pretty small.
7. Some of you drink massive amounts of beer!
So cheers to the F&D Board.

Once a beer becomes easily obtainable it becomes "meh"

Some people are complete nazi's about boiling crawfish.
The biggest thing I've learned is that this is the best damn board in TD. Sometimes people get pissy but in the end posters here generally share a love for food, drink, and cooking and want to help each other out. From the fast food posts to the snobbiest of the snobs, there's something here for everyone and I wouldn't have it any other way

Unshucked corn can be microwaved and plated without removing all the silk...and it's f'ing delicious. Only thing I use the microwave for.
Thanks, F&D board.

Just a couple I can think of off the top of my head:
1) When Kingsford charcoal was on sale at Lowe's around Memorial day.
2) That Edward's frozen pies look a whole hell of a lot better in pictures and on the box than they taste.

1 - Lagunitas is a "meh" brewery.
2 - You are a complete idiot of you use anything more than cracked black pepper and sea salt on your steak or for burgers.
Now with that out of the way, in all seriousness:
1 - This is the best board on Tigerdroppings.
2 - I have found some good recipes and great restaurant recs on here. Most posters are generous in responding to threads inquiring about places to eat in an area.
3 - I have learned a ton about the different offerings of beer out there, and my horizons have expanded as a result.

The Jambalaya Calculator is kind of how I stumbled across this place.

I learned all about jambalaya from this board. Previously, I made it using the Oak Grove mix.

I learned this method pre-FBD and it's definitely one of the most wonderful tips in the world of food tips. This time of year, my microwave gets a workout with the fresh corn available. I've made crawfish and corn soup two weekends in a row and eaten a lot of corn in between. Even if you're not fully cooking corn in the microwave, a minute in the microwave can steam those silks right off making the corn SO much easier to clean for whatever purpose.

That store bought roux is just as good as homemade.
That Kitchen Bouquet is great to darken stuff with
That Arse eats and drinks really well
That there are some sick people on here with regards to foods touching each other on the plate

I've always enjoyed Meridians threads with the pics
I wish people would say s/p instead of salt and freshly ground black pepper though. Not sure why, but that annoys the shite out of me
Good recipes here and good recommendations for places to eat
As far as best board it's a toss up, Money Talk is pretty good also
