Just made my first trip here and holy shite it was delicious. Best BBQ in Houston and I'm not sure it's close.

My one and only experience at the Pit Room was underwhelming.

Will give it a second change next time I'm in Houston.

I think the Pit Room is fantastic, but I still prefer Killens for now.

Though I've only had brisket and pork ribs from Pit Room.

That's the only thing I've had there too, despite 4 trips, because I enjoy them so much.

Pit Room is legit. My favorite place in Houston.

Killens may be better but it isn't worth wait considering I can stroll up to the pit room any time of day.

Ive only gotten the beef rib and bread pudding (goat bread pudding) at Killens

Gonna hit up either Pit Room or Corkscrew BBQ tomorrow. Both on my list to try out.

I've been to both Pit Room and Killen's twice in the past 2 months (4 total) - since the Texas Monthly ranking, surprisingly Killen's line has been shorter than Pit Room.

Having said that, Killen's and PR are 1a. 1b. in my book - but they swab based on what I've had last. Killen's had Snake River Farm Gold Label brisket and it was out of bounds. Killen's bone in pork belly is also the tits. Cheddar jalapeno sausage at Pit Room is a one way ticket to flavor town.

I'm going to try Truth in Brenham tomorrow. They're throwing their hat into the Houston proper ring, opening at Washington & Waugh: LINK

Pit Room is definitely one of the best in Houston and deserving a place on Texas Monthly's Top 50. But Jackson St is very much in the conversation and is better than a couple of others that made the Top 50

I'll be trying Corkscrew very soon. Hopefully next weekend

Pro tip-Wednesday nights is fajita night and Thursday night is burger night at The Patio next door.

Bram knows what he's doing on a grill too.

Glad you had a great experience at The Pit Room.

Mine (last October) was the most disappointing BBQ experience I've had. Stopped by The Pit Room after getting back from the far east. Picked-up $40 of brisket, ribs, and sausage. Brisket was ok. Ribs were a disaster (not fall-off-the-bone or pull-off-the bone; more like bring a comealong and winch-off the bone). Sausage (beef) was bland and dry.

Will have to give'em another try sometime. I'm one of the rare exceptions who doesn't rave about the place.

As for some other Houston area joints, Corkscrew, Roegels, and Killens are all top shelf. Witt Pitt in Rosenberg is also very good.

I was thinking of making a drive and trying either Corkscrew or Tejas Chocolate Craftory today, but both are closed on Sunday. I guess I'll try Roegels or Pit Room.

The Pit Room. I've never found anything at Roegels interesting except their pastrami.

Pit Room fanboy here. Fatty Brisket & Beef Rib is excellent.

Pinkertons Fatty Brisket is right at the top as well, IMO

Killiens is very good but not worth the time inconvience, for me.

Gatlins does good Fatty Brisket too

Pit room

Sadly, no low carb/vegetable style sides.
Got a LA carte meats

The lean brisket was weak
The fatty brisket was great
The ribs were good, not great IMO.

I finally made it over to Jackson St. a couple weeks ago and liked it a lot. We got there around 11:35AM for lunch and there was hardly any line. It was great and reasonably priced.
