The Most Popular Recipe in the World

quote:

John Chandler has a secret, and he guards it carefully, lest yet another friend or co-worker ask him to make it for a dinner party.

Chandler is, by day, a 43-year-old salesman and father of two, a self-proclaimed “Southern boy” who lives outside Dallas and grew up on college football and barbecue. Online, Chandler’s fans know him differently: He is the creator of the World’s Best Lasagna, an artery-clogging tower of sweet Italian sausage, ground beef and ricotta cheese that has reigned as the most popular recipe on AllRecipes.com for more than a decade. It has earned 10,423 ratings and been “pinned” to Pinterest more than 25,000 times. AllRecipes estimates that 12 million people viewed it in the past five years alone.

Sounds a lot like the wife's lasagna, which she first made for me in 1971, and maybe a hundred times since then. It is our two son's favorite day after Christmas day meal. If fact I can assure you that is what will be served at our house on December 26th this year, with leftovers on the 27th and maybe 28th, if she makes two or three pans like she has so many times in the past.

Lasagna must have Italian sausage at our house

I made it a few years ago. I added more cheese, but it was delicious.

I'll give you two tips for lasagne. Cross hatch the noodles and let it rest for 30 minutes. This way it will stay together and not slide.

The world's most popular dish is best when made by the world's most interesting man.

The photo doesn't look so good. Can't see the ricotta or the mozz. I like a good bit of both of those.

I've made this and it's awesome. I followed the top comments, and didn't cook the noodles and added more cheese and sauce and made three layers.

It's amazingly awesome. I made it for my dad's birthday and everyone loved it.

I love the smell of the sauce as it is simmering for 2 hours or so.

It's awesome. And you can make it the sauce and put the lasagna together the day before, let the flavors meld, and bake it the next day. It's perfect for an event where you don't want to cook the day of.

I like lasagna but

added more sauce

I think this is the downfall of most bad lasagna's. IMO
