Grilled cantaloupe with cracked pepper and prosciutto is where it's at.

Change your life. Watermelon with fresh mozz, basil, and a balsamic drizzle. You can also season accordingly if you want to add a little pepper bite to it.

I'm not a huge traditional caprese fan because the texture of a raw tomato has always disturbed me. I'll eat every derivative of a tomato, however, which really annoys me. I just wish I liked tomato.

I would hang myself if I didn't like fresh tomato.

That is true for me too

Having said that, I couldn't refuse but make a few jokes when I almost ran over a black guy late at night on I10 that was picking up watermelon off the road after a watermelon truck got in a wreck.

That's par for the course in my family as well. There were many nights growing up when dinner would consist of fresh tomatoes and cucumbers. I would eat PB&J.

I keep trying them every couple months. One day it'll happen. I actually want to like them.

I went ahead and made some with fresh basil from a stray plant I found near my compost pile and some watermelon I cut up a couple days ago. Topped half with balsamic and half with evoo

I will stick to my tomatoes

I don't eat much watermelon anymore, but as a kid I'd put salt on it.

I wish they still had the watermelon ribs at Hard Rock

I'm gonna try the salt or cracked pepper on cantaloupe tomorrow!

If any of you are ever driving on Hwy 49 between jackson and hattiesburg this summer, stop in Mize and get you a watermelon. Their claim to fame is they are the watermelon capitol of the world!
You can also find Mize watermelons at the farmers market in Jackson.
Seriously though, they are legit.

I think it's normal, but I haven't done it in a while. I eat much more watermelon now than I did growing up. Probably because I buy it all chunked up and ready to eat at Albertsons. Mmmmmm.

Pepper on cantaloupe sounds interesting.
