My buddy wants to throw a stock the bar party for me on Oct 8th (LSU at Florida). Long story short, The Bulldog Mid City screwed us over, so now we are left starting back from square one. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for a place to watch the game in NOLA that has a private/semi private area for around 50 people? Don't want to go to expensive though, as the groomsman are going to be paying the tab.

They have a pretty black and white policy on renting the patio.

unless your party is at ms maes it's not gonna be cheap anywhere for 50 people drinking.

Hope that you find a good location. School me here: I thought stock the bar parties were like housewarming parties. How will this one work?

I went to a 40th birthday party on top of Walk-ons and had a great time. Just so happens LSU was playing FL, that day too.

50 might be pushing it but you can rent out the larger covered area at Bayou Beer Garden.

No they don't. They took multiple deposits for the same date. The coordinator took over a week to get a contract sent to us. We paid the deposit within 1hr of receiving the contract (which, mind you, took over a week to receive) and was told that some one literally walked in 5 minutes before we dropped ours off to lock up that date.

I emailed them. Waiting on response now. I heard that they don't rent out areas during football games. Not sure how true that is.

Edit: just got the response. Yeah, no reserving areas during saints or lsu games.

Pretty much just as excuse to get people together. Food and liquor paid for for guests. Just asking that guests bring a bottle of liquor, wine, etc. as a gift.

Guests are bringing liquor for us in order to.... stock our bar . So I'm pretty sure the wording is correct. You are more than welcome to call it whatever you'd like.

I usually find these things to be better at someone's house.

Yea I know what your saying. We just think having 50 people in our home is too much. And getting all of them our friends to drive to the Northshore would be a headache.

Why would you not have it at someone's house? We did it at a friend's and had a toga theme.

ETA: Saw the last posts addressing that. Carry on.

Everyone drinks from the liquor that's brought in for the party. Ideally you bring something you think the homeowners want and you bring something you want to drink. So, in the future, when you come to visit they have what you want to drink. You DON'T host this party at a different location with a stocked bar. That just clearly doesn't make sense. Are you planning to have empty boxes at the entrance and everyone slides a fifth in when they show up...only to serve them some off-brand shite?

I REALLY think this is too far from the intent to even do it...if you do what is brought in IS the bar for the party. Provide beer and wine and mixers.

That's not how we did it. The liquor that is brought is to stock the bar of the couple, not to be consumed that night.

No, your interpretation makes no sense. What's the point of the party if every gift is just consumed that night? Not really gonna be stocking any bars like that.
