Some NOLA restaurants going to vaccine mandate for customers.

It's the same deal across town at Cowbell on Oak Street and Effervescence on the edge of the Quarter.
It's all because of the growing number of COVID cases.
“We thought, ‘OK, it's accelerating. Let's do this thing where if you want to sit inside, great. Just show us your vax card, a picture of it, and, you know, you can come inside, you can take your mask off when you get inside. Otherwise, we have outside seating,’” said Brack May, owner of Cowbell on Oak Street.
May said the idea came after Tipitina's, the Maple Leaf and d.b.a. announced earlier this week that anyone who wants to attend a show must be vaccinated or negative for the virus -- and prove it.

Just a reminder the chef and owner of La Boca said he was glad that the Republican Congressman elect from N La that died of coronavirus because he’s a Republican.

We were planning a weekend getaway for dining and drinks. Glad we haven't booked yet. Looks like the Beau Rivage again. NOLA can't get out of their own way.

I don’t blame them. frick those assholes who won’t get the vaccine. We’ve tried carrots to get people to take the vaccine, now it’s time to shun them. I would love to see LSU or the Saints mandate vaccines in order to go to games.

You must be the one idiot who didn't see the CDC headline today about how vaxed people transmit basically the same as unvaxed. So, the vaccine is no longer about others - just about yourself. Carry on virtue signaling though.

I’m just quite confused.
I assume you impose a vaccine mandate because you were trying to protect everyone else, right? Your employees, other customers, etc. However, the vaccine doesn’t prevent you from getting Covid at all. It doesn’t prevent you from carrying it and spreading it to other people at all. All it does is protect you, the vaccinated person, from being hospitalized. So what exactly is the purpose of requiring patrons to be vaccinated if it doesn’t actually help your staff or other patrons?
Wouldn’t it make waaaaay more sense to mandate a negative Covid test? Not that I agree with that necessarily either, but I can respect that more.

I really enjoy the food at la boca and they’re a private business and can do as they choose but I can choose to never eat there again.
For a while I was going once a week even during the pandemic. I’ll spend my money at Charlie’s.
