I first encountered Fresh Market in Greenville South Carolina. I made a seventy mile trip most weeks to get things from them. This was a reslut of seeing the horrid offerings of the "local" stores of Clemson. Bi-LO and Winn Dixie and another grocery I went to twice. Talk about going across a desert mumbling water, water. The company that bought out Winn Dixie a few weeks ago was Bi-LO. I can see them closing thier BR operations shortly, as the majority of thier business is on the eastern seaboard.

Haha I hear ya, CIT. It's all relative.

We are terribly spoiled in Texas with Central Market.

One of the first times in it, I had to wait for the butcher to serve another customer, he asked about the weight on some bad-assed looking Porterhouse steaks, I said 20 oz. per each with a glance at them, and the butcher announced them as 1 lb 4 oz after putting a few on the scales.

It is what it is, and I talk with experience 30 years plus old. That chain had shite on its shelves then that were amazing. There are two gocery chain in two particular areas that are the bomb. HEB in Texas, and Fred Meyers in the Northwest/Portland area that have gone off the scale for decades. Whole Foods is a nice thing in most areas, but it is a grocer based upon the psychology of shopping.

Why would you say that?

Because the AG stores in Baton Rouge are shite, for the most part.

They've competed very well in all local markets against the top chains like Walmart and other independents like rouses in new Orleans. A rouse store in BR would be no different.

Can someone please put in an upscale grocery store at Nicholson/Bluebonnet? It would serve parts of St. Gabriel, University Club, Lexingston Estates, and all of the subdivisions along Bluebonnet.

Albertson's would necessarily fail or continue to exist for the neighborhoods near gardere and north of burbank on bluebonnet.

Well, I can dream...

Yeah, all of this is fine and dandy until I start to think about all of the Winn Dixies and Albertson's that'll either shut down and leave crappy looking building with failing shopping centers behind or or just sit around run down for a long time.
