Terrible suggestion IMO if you have the time the wait at Franklin's is well worth it

He's only here for the weekend...It's not as big of a deal for people who live here, but if I'm visiting a place for a couple days, I don't want to spend 1/4 of my whole trip waiting in line to get BBQ.

Is there a possibility of not waiting 3 hours at Franklin's BBQ? There are people who will wait in line for you. Here is one I love this country.

Good article about a 13 tr old kid who was the first to start waiting in line at Franklin for people.

Missing out on Jack Allens Kitchen is a mistake.

I went to Franklin on a bachelor party and it was well worth it. Unlike other ridiculous lines (hot Doug's in Chicago), this wait was as fun as possible for such an affair. Think of it as a tailgate. We got there super early and started drinking some good beer out there, made friends, got drunk, had a blast. Got out of there around 2 or 3. Can only speak for my friends, but if we hadnt done Franklin, the only thing we would have done instead up until 2/3 would be sleep and drink in our hotel before going out. So what else would you be doing instead that early?

Meh, Jack Allen's is good for locals, but I'm not sending someone there if only here for a weekend...

Dai Due. This place is awesome. Butcher shop up front. Restaurant in back. Just got named one of the top ten new restaurants in America by Bon Appetit

Salt and Time is excellent as well. They dry age all their own beef.

I gotta agree with rummel on this one. Jack Allens is a great place but I don't ever tell people to go there who are visiting. Unless it's a brunch recommendation.

Yeah, it's good food. I'm a big fan.

But if someone is staying downtown, then I'm not sending them out to JA's. Just too many good restaurants downtown.

Oh yea if you're talking about the drive then ya. But I'd put the food against most anything else there.

Uchi. Get there early when they open the doors for sake social. Try all 10 or so chef tastings. You won't regret it.

That would be about it. Even then, Annie's has a better brunch IMO...

John Mueller vs Aaron Franklin

As I've posted before a good read on the two. Franklin learned from Mueller.

I think John Muellers sister is running it now ?

Both are good as is La Barbeque. Hell I like Salt Lick.

Salt Lick is amazing. Gets lost in the shuffle but the original in driftwood is a great experience

Sullivan's Steak House
Flemings

If you want to actually experience a meal, go to Stiener Ranch. Food is excellent and the sunset is amazing. It's a little out of the way of downtown, but why waste time at a Sullivan's or Flemings?
