Will be going there next week for work. We are staying downtown for what it's worth.

Depending on how much you're looking to spend, Eddie V's is pretty damn good.

Really any type of food. Is there a possibility of not waiting 3 hours at Franklin's BBQ?

Franklin BBQ or John Mueller's......Franklin is better but has crazy long lines but is worth it....IMO

Mueller's is a very close second without as long of lines....I'd pick Franklin if it was me.

Find a taco truck & get some miga's for breakfast

there's a ton of places i like in Austin, even thought i hate the town.

Eddie V's for seafood food. (can't personally vouch, i'm allergic, but my wife loves it)

Iron Cactus
Moonshine Patio Grill
Fogo De Chao
Sullivan's Steak House
Flemings
magnolia's cafe for breakfast
annie's cafe for breakfast as well
if during the days, make it over to the food trucks

Z'Tejas is great mexican food, and they have a drink that bats 1000 as a panty dropper, i'd recommend if you're not going to get in trouble for sleeping with a party in attendance.

Fried Chicken Biscuit

Their crispy beef tongue is also delicious.

Whip-In is the tits. Indian/Texas food and a great beer selection. The one thing to worry about -- we were there one night and they were getting ready to have a poetry reading. That's something that will make me run out of an establishment.

Terrible suggestions. Moonshine is ok. Magnolia and Annie's are also decent, but far from the best Austin has to offer. The rest of your list is chain restaurants... No wonder you hate Austin

To the OP, don't waste your time at Franklin, especially since you aren't in town long. John Mueller is the best value for BBQ in Austin (and all of Texas IMO) in terms of quality and wait time. It's probably a slight notch below Franklin, but the wait is not bad at all. It may be cash only, I'm not sure. La BBQ is very good also, but the wait can be long (1 hour or more). Mickelthwaites is a new place that is getting a lot of attention. I don't think the wait would be too bad there.

My suggestions:

Hopdoddy - Get a medium rare burger
Torchy's Tacos - Make sure to get some chips and queso with your tacos.
Curra's Grill - Mexican
Takoba - Mexican
Chilantro - Korean BBQ Tacos - Get the kimchi fries
Peached Tortilla - Asian Fusion
Uchi or Uchiko - Asian small plates
Easy Tiger - Great bar
G'rag Mahal - Awesome Indian food on Rainey Street
East Side Kings - Food truck owned by Paul Qui
Lamberts - Upscale BBQ

There are too many to list...

Cisco's for breakfast.
Threadgill's for lunch or dinner.

If you have a car and some time drive west on 1431 to Marble Falls and go to Bluebonnet Cafe.

Terrible suggestion IMO if you have the time the wait at Franklin's is well worth it.....Mueller's top notch as well & I do think it is cash only.
