I have a horrible habit of undercooking dishes. It's one thing to have a steak turn out rare instead of medium rare, it's another when pork or poultry is pink. I've plated dinners, then had to put chicken pieces back in the oven for 10-15 minutes. My wife got furious with me when I did this with a pheasant she bought at Whole Foods. I finally started relying on a digital thermometer or just asking "Honey, you think it's done?"

I also sometimes have a heavy hand with salt and spices. I cooked a pot of rice a couple of weeks ago that was close to being inedible. And I made a blow the top off your head chili a few years ago -- had to fish jalapenos out of the pot and cut the heat with flour and sugar.

I have a habit of burning the French bread in the oven when making garlic bread.

I also tend to forget to make sides and I will never convince my wife that I don't do it purpose. Probably 'cuz I do it on purpose.

Me? No.
My wife? She is not allowed to cook in the kitchen because she can't.

But she does pour her Purple Crystal Lite in a glass several times a day. This results in about 6 spills a day. On the counter, on the floor tile, on the drawer handles.

Zach goes through a bottle of 409 getting rid of the stains every week. She also spills her Purple Lite at the gym in the women's dressing room. The cleaning lady has often complained to me about this.

She is incapable of pouring liquid into a glass without spilling it. She even has adult versions of 'sippy cups' that are non spill. She spills them.

But then it's the same with popcorn. The dogs go into the pantry every day to eat all the popcorn Mommy has spilled on the floor while attempting to pour some into a bowl.

Is she spastic? Hmmmm, yeah, I'd say so.

Did you marry a 6 year old?

When my wife cooks (less than 5 times a year), she uses every dish and leaves every cabinet open.

Also, she uses a bottle of something and doesnt screw the lid back on all the way. Ketchup, mustard, dressed, OJ, etc. One time she did this, I went to shake the dressing up and it went everywhere. I don't shake bottles anymore without making sure they are sealed (and after she uses them, they never are).

She absolutely suffers from what psychologists call 'arrested emotional development'. But she's stuck at something like 10, not 6.

I hear ya, brother. My wife is the same way. It's too difficult to put tops back on bottles. But I can go you one further.

She hates child proof caps on aspirin and she takes a lot of aspirin. So when she gets a new bottle she just opens it up, pours the pills out on the night stand by her side of the bed (about 50 pills).

Some end up on the floor and get vacuumed up. Thank God the dogs won't touch them.

When I have the bottom oven on warm to keep something warm in case someone wants seconds, I sometimes forget to turn it off and sometimes, I live the food in it overnight.

Years ago we had a bunch of family and friends over for Thanksgiving. I cooked two huge turkeys. Carved up one and a half to feed the crew. Put the second half bird on a pan and tossed it in the oven just to get it off the counter. About five days later I was wondering why I didn't have any left overs for sandwiches and what not then realized....

Opened the oven and carcass was rotten as all hell. Nasty.

You should just dig in and loudly proclaim with a laugh, "Makes me feel like a wolf!" (From "Shining Through", when Melanie Griffith serves undercooked doves.)

Telling my wife to watch the garlic bread in the oven while I'm manning the damn grill

shite never fails. 15 minutes later when I come in and she's on Facebook on her phone and the damn smoke alarm is about to go off.
