i used the 'fat free' comment to make a general statement about people acting like that's soemthing to strive for and backed it up with a quick post pointing out the benefits of good fats. where did i call anyone stupid?

My Lentil Chipotle soup has been a diet saver, 12 oz only 180 calories. Have kept my total under 1100 cals three days straight, trying to bust through a 27 lb plateau. Add 550 cals off for exercise, looking for results on the scale manana.

No change this morning... still at 223. Didn't exercise hardly at all over the weekend and ate tailgating food and drank beer, so no change is a good thing!

Ran Week 8, day 1 of the Couch to 5K Plan yesterday after work... beautiful day for it. Amazing how 28 minutes (well over 2 miles) is now easy when at the beginning I was struggling to run even 1/4 mile a few times through.

Lentil Chipotle soup

Very simple. I think spicy food is more satisfying than bland.

1 Onion chopped
1 Tbsp olive oil
1 Lb. Lentils
2 Tbsp canned chiplotes
1 Lemon juiced
3 to 4 quarts water

Saute onion, add water, lentils & chipotles. Simmer for an hour. I like to puree with a stick blender then add juice of a lemon before serving.

8 oz serving
131 calories
22 carbs
1 fat
9 protein
8 fiber
3 sugar

255 and stuck as well. Must be the weather lol. Anyway, I'm still doing 1500 cals a day, not drinking alcohol and have just kind of evened out. I'll keep at it because I know it will start dropping off again.

morning weight: still 146

bkfst: none
lunch: Subway Melt, 380 cal, 1530 sodium!!!!

FML. I can't escape sodium overload even at Subway.

quote:

The body requires only 500 milligrams of sodium each day. The American Heart Association recommends no more than 2,400 milligrams of sodium per day

So I have 870 mg of sodium left today. And I'm trying to stay at or below 1200 calories a day.

Exercise tip for everyone here:

If you are concentrating on diet but not on exercise you need to get outside at this time of year. Fall is perfect. Not too hot. Not too cold.
None of the pollen from Spring.

Bring along the dog...the significant other....the ipod. This is the best time of the year to get outside. You also get lots of Vitamin D from sun light.

Gang,

I just noticed this thread and I wanted to share with you guys the website that I used to drop 50 lbs last year. I weighed 255 and made it down to 205 in 4 months. It wasn't easy and I exercised my arse off but I could not have done it without using a calorie counter web site (i used "about's version) I love to cook and the site that i used allowed me to enter in my raw ingredient recipe and serving size and gives you a calorie count on what you eat. It also has most of the grocery store and restaurant listings as well. Invest in a good little digital kitchen scale because the measurements are so critical to success. Something as simple as a sandwich can increase by 40-60% calorie intake by adding 1 or 2 extra shaved slices of turkey vs 56g's, a touch more of regular mayo vs 1tbsp of SmartBeat Mayo, regular cheese vs fat free thin singles, arnolds bread thins vs Evangelin Made. I know it is a pain in the arse but it works. I will post a picture of my weight tracker (another cool option on the site) later tonight.

I agree that the weather feels great and trust me, I have been taking advantage of it! Feels great! But, your quote about the pollen is bullshite...that stuff is killing us around here. The last few days for Ragweed have been classified by the local news as "extreme" and they're right for once. Of course, that's Houston so I'm not sure where everyone else is.

But yes, if you're not getting out in these great temps you're missing out. Not freezing your balls off and not dying from heat stroke either.

I am weighing in every Tues, because started last Tues on a recommitment to drop some LBs after dropping about 35lbs this same time last year. I have maintained the weight throughout the year, which i am proud of. But Im ready to get rid of this extra weight.

anyway, i weighed in at 231 last Tues, and today weighed in at 228.

i exercised 3 times last week. played softball 2 other nights. I didn't go out and drink at the bar any, but Sunday at the Saints game had my fair share of jack and waters. Workouts have been 30 minutes on my stationary bike, which entails about 10 miles at my target heart rate. Some pushups, dips, and bicep curls. Just going on what i have right now available.

I had one cheat day where I ate a ribeye(14oz or so), some french fries, and a veggie medley.

lunches have been either 6 in turkey from Subway on wheat, with baked lays and water, or the same from Quizno's. Light mayo that i add myself at home. No cheese. Dinner has been a lot of the same. I'll buy a footlong and just split it for lunc/dinner. If i feel like cooking, its chicken and veggies.

Snacking on nuts and some raisins, or just raisins if i have a sweet tooth. Also some low fat mozzarella string cheese which satisfies my salt craving when i have one.

Im drinking nothing but water and diet green tea, or a diet soda on my cheat day.

if i can think of anything else i'll add.

At 238 this morning (244 last Tuesday).

Had a pretty good day - around 1500 calories. Trying to keep it going.

Would love to hit 220 by Thanksgiving or sooner.

i've shifted focus to my upper body..my lower half is in excellent shape thanks to all the bike riding on hills i've been doing this year..combination of cardio and strength training..when you hit a long climb your legs will be screaming by the time you get to the top..

so in an effort to put even more muscle tissue to work on eating away body fat, i've joined the gym in my building and had my initial consult with the personal trainer yesterday..she's a hottie btw.

i get about a half dozen free 'consults' so i'm going to space them out over the next 3 months or so instead of burning them all at once so she can tweak my training.

i mean..do i actually have back muscles? hard to say because i dont see any right now

eta i'm also going to start training for the marathon in april in nov/dec so that will provide my fill of cardio..its just my wimpy upper body that is pathetic right now and in need of something.

:sigh:

doctor told me i was fat yesterday gotta love foreigners. i need to lose 12 pounds. i'm mad because i'm at the gym all week for at least an hour and i eat very clean (about one "cheat" day a week that might involve real bread or something). my blood pressure was 110/60 so i guess all that cardio has been good for something. blah. today my butt hurts from the beating i gave my little spin class yesterday, so i'm gonna use that as motivation to hit the lap lanes hard today.

today i'm juicing for breakfast and eating a hot pocket for lunch.
