I clocked in at a steady 183 this morning. Need to make it thru weekend clean and start chipping away at the 170s. Not far to go.

Sure, a ton of acne. And yes, I was mildly. There have been some studies on the effect of food you eat and how you feel. It is very interesting. I think most on here could also affirm. I'm happy to share my experiences.

I would get moody when I ate starchy carb crap.

I absolutely believe keto helps with that.

I think it is moreso an indirect effect of the food than a direct one..you feel better because eating better makes you think you should feel better. It's a very mental thing really..if I eat bad food I feel bad, but only because I know I ate bad food, not because it's causing some chemical reaction in my brain to make me feel negatively.

If the end result is feeling better and being less fat, what's the issue?

Sure, the food you take in has absolutely nothing to do with your brain's function.

Did I say that? I'm just saying the Keto diet isn't a cure for depression. I mean it gets you in shape and all, now it cures your clinical depression?

Junky's experience won't everybody's experience. Doctors are not going to go around telling people with clinical depression to eat keto to cure it. I'm not saying cutting carbs will fix everyone's problems.. But to insinuate that dietary changes wouldn't potentially fix a biological function of the brain is asinine. What you put in your body affects everything in your body, and a bad diet could cause hormonal imbalances that could lead to a myriad of unexpected problems.

Keto is legitimate treatment for epilepsy. Particularly for people whose seizures aren't responding to medicine. It's not a huge leap to believe it can impact other brain-related functions.

I'm not even on a kerogenic diet, so this isn't some crossfit-style cult following on my part.

Ok, let me make a slight correction. I was diagnosed with Dysthymia, chronic mild depression.

The ketogenic diet may have mood-stabilizing properties.
The Neuropharmacology of the Ketogenic Diet
use of ketone ester in a case of Alzheimer's disease.
Beyond weight loss: a review of the therapeutic uses of very-low-carbohydrate (ketogenic) diets
Carbohydrates and Depression

All of these I found on Ash's website. He collects all the good, well performed, studies he can on ketosis. highsteaks.

If you've never suffered from any sort of depressive nature, you have no idea. No doctor will give diet-only as a Rx because it falls outside the "standard of care" they must abide by. Now, standard of care plus diet is appropriate. This is also backed up by the links provided above. Doctors have known about a keto diet's effect on seizures since the 1920's. Anyone suffering from mood swings/depression/bipolar would do themselves a huge favor by removing sugar from their diet.

What are you guys doing with supplements?

Typical day workout at 4:30 am fasted.

Preworkout: Old School labs at the moment. Bought Body Fortress from Wal mart to try next. Ingredients look legit.

Post workout/fasting: Scivation Xtend BCAA with a scoop of creatine. Take more BCAA later while still fasted.

ON whey protein to break fast around 11am.

Creatine in my morning coffee every day, I do this as a ritual at work so I don't forget to take it.

I drink some pre-workout that my girlfriend bought...mainly so it's not simply wasted money. I don't know if it helps, but the brief tingly skin feeling is kinda fun.

I also take 2 arginine & ornithine horse pills with my pre-workout.

after workout I have 1-2 scoops of IsoPure no carb protein

Morning gents.

About to run this 5k with the ole man. Then headed to Jazz Fest this afternoon. Hopefully I can keep my calorie intake down this weekend so I don't feel like shite on Monday.

The weekends are definitely killing my progress.
I'm doing a horrible job by drinking and eating more carbs.
I was up around 236 or 237 on Monday.

I started doing the 30 day HIIT on darebee.com

Here we are today a crawfish boil and bday party at my house.
It's for fun, but for the diet.

I dropped the ball yesterday.
Acme tent had:
Red beans and rice
Fried oysters
Raw oysters
Fried shrimp
Cole slaw
Greyhounds (14)

I probably need to IF until Thursday.
