Some might remember Primivito being pimped by BocaJared a few months ago. Has been opened about a month and has an open hearth style of cooking. No particular style of food, kind of a whatever goes.

Fried Duck Wing Confit, Hot Sauce, Herbs and Sunflower Seeds. Wings have great spice, maybe a little crispier, but by no means soggy or slimy like some wings can be.

Beef Heart Tartare, Watermelon and Thai Basil on some toasted bread. Amazing blend of textures, the toast even stayed crisp under the bed if cubed heart and melon. Was nervouse that the heart would be too tough as tartare, but the small piece were a great way to overcome it.

Braised pork cheeks, smoked pork butt and dumplings in Carbonara.
This dish made the whole meal. So tender and a great smokey flavor with the pork butt. Not sure exactly what went in the sauce, but it went great on the biscuits.

Biscuits with cultured butter and peach preserves.

Made some room and ordered the S'mores.

Again, great smoke flavor in the mallows. The chocolate gets super melty so it definitely isn't a dish for a first date. Luckily it comes with a wet wipe.

Nice! Looks like the nola FBD Krewe is doing work here today. When you go back you should take me instead of that pasty date. I hear brunch is excellent.

Were you distracted from the sunflower seeds? Nuttiness.

The wife said it tops Oxalis for her. They run close with each other IMO.

Nice review! Glad you snapped some pics. I've heard several good reports on Primitivo, but haven't seen the food. The menu doesn't overly excite me, but that pork cheek dish looks excellent.

They look a bit greasy. And the butter ? Is it cultured because of the location ?

I really like the mix of items you guys picked out. Curious has to what you had to pass over.

Babycakes wanted the oysters, but passed since I wouldn't eat the slimy bastards.

Charcuterie board looked huge, especially for $16.

It seems like a lot of the items on the menu are used because they can grab a lot of the smokiness. Even the beef heart tartare came with a good bit of smoke flavor.

The butter had so much culture it made me unafraid to walk through Central City after sunset.

It's on my list. I really want to check it out. My wife isn't thrilled but showing her these dishes she will be happy.

They had some fish dishes and veggie dishes as well.

Forgot about a couple drinks and they had some house made liquors (liqueurs). Had the coffee variety, on the sweet side but really good.

Went on quiet opening night. Beautiful space and an awesome concept. Really liked the oysters and that tripe dish (the a mano tripe). Cant wait to go back.
