I need to expand my horizons beyond Uptown, CBD and WHD. I'm in a rut.

I know there are some good places that have opened in the last few years, but I'd appreciate some suggestions. Places I need to give a shot but haven't because I'm too damned lazy.

I realize the question is kind of open ended, but I'd like to hear some recommendations from the board (I'm really thinking of places that have popped up, say, since Katrina).

I swear to God I knew would be one of the first to respond.

I tried Toups a couple of years ago. But I need to go back.

Nope, but it sounds like a good idea. Maybe we can catch up with glass one of these days. He frequents the place, you know.

1000 Figs is a neat place, I think.

I haven't been since the third menu came out. The first post BooKoo was kind of meh to me. Honestly I used to be a regular there then it got too popular and I stopped going as much.
I'm still friends with Pauline on Facebook and I like following her and Stephen's success, it's just not that little Irish dive bar anymore.

I didn't like it that much. We had some pretty bad fish. When I asked about it I was told is was not fresh fish and that it was previously frozen. Shameful that a place on the lake does not have access to fresh seafoood.

Had Blue Oak for the first time last week. Best wings in NOLA, hands down. They are smoked then fried and came with a kickass buffalo sauce. The wings were very meaty as well.

To add to the other solid choices, Brown Butter. It's in the corner of Carrolton and Bienville.

Also about to be on that corner is the really good Metarire seafood joint, Bevi Seafood. Carrolton is really experiencing a good restaurant renaissance at the moment.
