Really can't say enough about what's going on over at Brieux Carre. These are some of the best guys around and have built 90% of the brewery themselves. Very salt of the earth people who have worked extremely hard to create something as complex as a microbrewery at 26 years old. They're still getting used to ramping up to a 7 bbl system, but the first commercial batches have been extremely solid. If only to get an idea of where these guys are starting at, it is worth a visit.

I'm going to park in that area in a little while when I head to French Quarter fest and I think I'm going to stop by and see the place

Alright so I'm bumping this to get a little more advice.

What I'd like to be able to do is take the street car from St. Charles (two reasons: large group, and many of them haven't been before) to lunch somewhere, then be able to walk to one of the breweries/brew houses mentioned. Uptown preferred, but not required.

Any advice? TIA.

Edit: Currently looking at going to Mid City instead, getting lunch at Toup's, then walking over to Bayou Beer Garden. Good idea or not?

That's a long arse walk (about a mile; if it's hot, after a Toups Lunch ... idk). I'd still do it, but Uber. You will have more fun at BBG than you would at the breweries. Beer won't be as good but still

Could also do Bevi or Blue Oak

Or

Parkway - you can easily walk to BBG from there

Mapquest is putting it at just under a mile. Shouldn't take but 15 or so to walk, but ubers are always an easy option too.

Blue Oak looks awesome, but I've yet to get to Toups and have been wanting to for a while now.

Toups is the best option for sure. Make reservations now though

You should get lunch at Peche and then walk to Courtyard.

Bayou Beer Garden is okay, but I thought good beer was your priority?

It is. But I don't feel like dragging a huge group from place to place either. Peche is a good idea - haven't been there either.

Good plan all around, Toups rocks and BBG is fun place to hang out. No idea you had a big group when we suggested stuff earlier. Courtyard has limited seating.

BBG has what is on tap on their website. have fun!

You'll have more fun doing this than you would trying to get the "best" beer that courtyard has to offer.

That was also my thought process. BBGs beer list doesn't blow me away, but it looks to have some good options. And from what I can tell it seems like a nice place to sit outside and enjoy a couple pints.

BBG and BWG sometimes has the best assembled talent of any other place in the city. Catch it on the right night and there are tables and tables full of talent out on the veranda.

Yeah I neglected to mention that. Not that it's a massive group, but it'll end up being about 10 or so guys.

BBG shouldn't have "Beer Garden" in their name. It's misleading. It should be called Bayou Patio Bar. The beer selection is very meh.

I'm seeing Courtyard is hosting the Louisiana Hops Festival on April 20th. I'll be in town that week and haven't been to Courtyard yet. Does anyone know if this event will be worth checking out?

Bought my pre-sale Ticket on Tuesday. Should be a good time with killer juice.
