This thread is about as good as a how to make gumbo thread. There are lots of ways to make good rice.

Rice cooker is the easiest and most consistent, especially if you have a lot going on and sometimes forget about the rice. But I guess no one here ever burns or undercooks rice.

Normal pot with a lid...

This! Great thing is you can use the pot for other cooking also. Never understood the need for a special rice cooking contraption. Do you need a bean cooker? Or a corn cooker?

Can't say I've bruned a pot of rice since I quit using the toy saucepans back in college. A heavy bottom and a timer keep ya from burning.

First gift we were given when I got married back in the day.

Hatichi still working strong 28 years later.

More than I can say for the ex-wife.

National steam rice cooker (pressure). Uses less water than rice. Turn on and walk away. Switches automatically to warm when done. Perfect every time. I find rice boiled on the stove top to be too mushy.

This.
Rice cookers are waay better/easier than stove top. But a cheap cooker does the job for 10 years. Then throw it away and get another $20 cooker from Wal Mart.

Just don't buy that microwave rice cooker. A piece of junk in the highest order.

The "just use a pot" people probably make all their pizzas from scratch and never order delivery either

I have this brand but mine is slightly different. Sure, using a pot is easy but you have to pay attention to it. I saw my mom screw up rice on Christmas day because the whole family was standing around chatting in the kitchen and she was distracted. I love the rice cooker. The only thing it doesn't do well is jasmine rice. Comes out too gummy.

Jasmine is about the only rice I cook in mine. You have to first wash it 2 or 3 times until the water runs clear. Not gummy in the least.
