Unfortunately I have to go to Memphis for 2 nights (on a Monday and Tue) and looking for some good places for dinner. I've been to all the BBQ places before so not looking for that. I'd like to find some of the higher end things there. For some reason I think I read something about Paulina? or something.

Anyway recs would be appreciated. Thanks

If you get a lunch and are near German Town, Las Tortugas Deli Mexicana

You heard bout Pauline's I'm guessing, but you could do better, although its fine. Iris, as someone said, or for something more casual there are a ton of cool places in the Cooper Young area. Not BBQ, but Gus's fried chicken is the best I've ever had and a lot of people on this board agree with that statement.

Iris would be a top 5 restaurant in NOLA, FACT.
Hogs and Hominy pizza place.
Gus's

Gus's and Deli Mexicana are both excellent.

If you only have two nights in Memphis, skip this place. They have an OK bar, but the food is not that great. Portions are pretty small too.

Without knowing where you're staying, here are a couple options:

Downtown:
Flight (you probably can't get a reservation, but worth a shot)
McEwen's (great wine cellar)
Spindini (Italian...not really high end but not a hole in the wall)
Felicia Suzanne's (also need a reservation)

East/Midtown:
Interim
Acre
Sweetgrass (also not really high-end, but nice dinner in Cooper Young)

Someone mentioned Hog & Hominy. They get a shite ton of love on the national food scene and in Memphis, but I never was a big fan. Over-hyped, I guess. Their food is good, but it's not something I would clamor to get when I'm there.

Yeah, hit or miss. Duck fried rice is good, $5 for a big portion.

Iris is great. So is Blues City Café, which has bbq also has other stuff. Great for a hungover lunch. Get the bbq shrimp app that comes in a cast iron skillet with butter and whatnot a some French bread for dipping. It's good stuff Clark.

eat- I like downtown Memphis.

When I lived there, there was this gourmet pizza craft beer place called Boscos.
It was in Germantown.

Sold.

It's still there, and there's one in Midtown. Pretty good stuff. I'd recommend it if he wasn;t just there for a weekend.

East Memphis: Folk's Folly; Hog & Hominy;

Downtown: Flight, McEwen's, Spindini, Majestic Grille; Itta Benna;

Mid-Town: Iris; Beauty Shop; SweetGrass; Local (hit/miss);

Really depends on what/where you prefer to eat. A lot of options outside of BBQ.
