Anyone watching this season. It taped so I watched. Anyone know Jesse Romero from Baton Rouge. I don't recall noticing him on the show, but I didn't watch that closely.
His photo is here.

ETA: Claudia beat out Derek. She sort if edged her way forward throughout the season. Her tamale app looked delicious. Might consider her cookbook. She did some nice takes on Latino foods.

Filters won't let me see the photo at work. I wasn't able to catch all of the show. Did he make the cut? Also, there were a couple or three others from LA. Did any of those make the cut?

Hijack: is there a more overly used moniker than the term, chef? Anyone remotely tied to the food world calls themself or lets others call them a chef.

Not me Bro. I'm an old fart from the Landmass.

Been friends with him since we were kids... he was barely shown on the first episode. He said on FB that there would be a lot more of him in the next one.

He made the first 22. When you click on the photo of some of the others to "get to know them", there's a video with info, but nothing on his page.
Here's his pic.

Where does he cook?
If the show is believable, he cooks at home.
None of them are chefs.
So far I'm for Shelly

Shelly is very likable. If Tommy "the flamboyant one" hangs around, I predict he will be a central figure in all the drama they seem to believe is necessary for the show.

Tommy
He's a bit creepy for me.
Asian guy with the suspenders bugs me.
I think the drummer could be a force.
The California urban gardener is a crack up.

She will really have to learn fast because it seems her skills are good but her range is very limited to simple things.

Gotcha. Don't watch it.

They pick a few people for the final 12 or whatever strictly based on personality. They want conflict for TV.

It's pretty entertaining and because they are home cooks there are some heartwarming stories and people to pull for, not just on the show, but for their lives.
Shelly, the one I referenced is a single mom from Brooklyn who works as a "kitchen assistant" for $10/hr.
The judges are brutally honest, but also encouraging.

I was expecting the new female judge to be a tyrant, but she's pretty mild mannered so far.
Tommy is definitely a bit creepy.
I really get tired of the drama when they get that going.
I like the drummer and the herb gardener.
I felt badly for the girl who put the skid mark of chocolate on her plate. That was some ugly. Grossed me out.
