I'm tired of going to my same sushi joints in Metry and looking to branch out tonight. Stumbled across Kanno in Fat City. Menu is small but the pictures I've seen look good and reviews are solid.

Any F&DB'ers can vouch for this place?

I haven't been since he moved from the little strip mall spot.

It's a good spot, but he really caters to the Metairie 'in the know crowd.' I always felt like more of an outsider there than I ever did at Galatoires.

Elvis Roll is always great. Double Tuna roll is not always on the menu but it's excellent if they offer it.

Not a fan. The service is fantastic though.

They don't use rice in the rolls. Just a FYI

Pictures I've seen say otherwise

Granted this was the regular rolls. Some of the specialty rolls had no rice (which im fine with)

Have you gone to Sake Don's yet?
I think he's the best around. Very very good.

Where's has Kanno been all my life?!?!

Seriously, that was impressive. Super fresh ingredients and very friendly and helpful staff.

We got the Kanno Special, Catapillar, BBQ Eel, Crawfish, and Crunchy. The Kanno Special with the broiled salmon was a great bite of food. Very affordable too.

Kanno just got a new member to their fan club.

As much as I love the sushi at Kanno, I love the free frozen chocolates they bring out at the end of the meal.

It has been my go to spot for about 5 years. The soft-shell crab spicy miso soup, marinated albacore tuna app, kimchi salad, and the very expensive roll are some items you might not see on the menu but are all really damn good.
