Chef Kelley McCann is teaming up with Chad Hughes and Brad Watts to open a new restaurant concept in the old Chelsea’s Cafe building at 2857 Perkins Road. Hughes and Watts are opening Kalurah Street Grill in the late fall. McCann, who is leaving Galatoire’s Bistro after roughly 10 years, is joining them as executive chef of the new restaurant.

The new restaurant will have a split restaurant, cocktail bar and wine bar concept. The two entrances that characterized the old Chelsea’s Cafe building will be gone, with one entrance in its place. The restaurant, which will serve a menu of seasonal vegetables and Louisiana game and fish, will be located on the right side of the entrance. The cocktail and wine bar will be situated the left.

Yeah, that's a great setting for a fancy restaurant and wine bar.
Damn, I miss having Chelsea's in my lunch and happy hour rotation. It just fit there.

In fairness, the building City Pork 2 was in was a dump and look at it now. Same for ZeeZees-Merchant.

Can someone please tell me why so many people on a LSU based board hate Baton Rouge so much. I have been around the world and its a pretty damn cool city. It ain't New Orleans as far as food goes but it isn't bad and has some variety. More than you can say for many many towns.

Because most people who spend their hours posting on internet forums lead miserable lives and need an outlet to shite on everything.

That may be the single most cogent post, bar none, I have ever read on this site. I feel better. Thanks.

If there's one thing I've learned in my time on this earth, it's this: people loooove to bitch.
I think there are a couple of big reasons here tho:
-nola, arguably the premier tourist city in the us, is 60 mins away
-people also compare br to much larger cities like Seattle & Denver
-people are boring and miserable and don't want to make minor efforts to improve their situation in this city, preferring to bitch about it and lament how the city that they have chosen to live in/ go to school in is ruining their life by not entertaining them

What is the status on the beer garden place the Chelsea's guy was doing?
I hope this place works out but I have hard time imaging that I will go there as often as I did Chelsea's.
