Stopped by Johnny Sanchez today for lunch. Its at 930 Poydras Downtown. The waiter said they had a soft opening last week and fully opened on Thursday. Also said that they are looking to create daily specails, gameday specials, and a brunch menu.

Here is a link to a NOLA.com article with the menu

LINK

Each table gets chips and fried plantains with red and green salsa. I also ordered the guacomole which was very good. Tacos come two per order for $8. I ordered fried shrimp, steak, and roasted goat. Shrimp was the best and came topped with chile aoli, pickled carrots and shallots, and fresh radish. Steak was also very good with jalepeno, guacomole, and pico. Goat was okay but was one note with pickled cactus, tomatillo salsa, and queso fresco. All ingredients were good quality and very fresh.

Anybody else been?

Went last night. They were the best thing I had. Everything was good. had the sweetbreads, cabritos (goat), and barbacoa. Barbacoa was a little greasy. Had a good experience. They comped a few of our tacos for no reason at all, which is always nice. Would return.

Yes.

Their menu definitely is fluid. The goat or duck enchilada is next on my list. Can't remember which one it is.

Went today for lunch as well. I had the lamb enchiladas and thought they were fantastic. Which is good considering the $20 price tag. The mole was rich, had lots of flavor, and was well balanced. The lamb meat was seasoned and cooked perfectly.

My fiancé had the goat tacos which I thought were just okay. Meat was a little gamey and not very seasoned.

Guacamole was tasty but too whipped for my taste. Crickets didn't add much except for an airy, popcorn like texture.

Fiances' mom had the chicken dish which was pretty tasty but ultimately probably not worth $15 bucks.

Free chips and salsa were on point. I liked both the red and the green.

Overall I thouhht it was a good spot. Will go back for sure.

Damn, I really need to go to this place with all the reviews yall are doing on it. Disappointed to see two "meh" reviews on the goat tacos after reading O Brah's thread on them. Interested in trying those and the crickets with the guacamole. That throws me for a loop

the crickets weren't that big of an addition. They were pretty 'airy.'

Are the crickets the same ones at the insectarium? Sysco selling them now?
