No one knows what Southern African food tastes like and no one wants to.

Eating Gnu toungue stew isnt my idea of captivating tv

Yeah, they filmed a 'winning' ending with all three finalists. So they have no idea which one is going to air at the finale.

Yeah, not knocking her food culture. It just wont get the tv demand as much as other POVs.

Plus every time they tasted her food they said it was bland...even with her trying to cook curries and heavily spiced food.

Better than whatever Michelle was trying to do or another NY Italian point of view.

And if we are ONLY talking about the food itself, better than what Jay is cooking. We've had everything he cooks.

I hear ya.

Does sound good.

Hey, I'd watch the show Jay is contemplating.
I'm just saying cuisine from Southern Africa, unknown to most of us is going to be more interesting than blackened fish and boudin stuffed quail.

And every chef on the show has done some things most of us have not had. Even Dom.

I watch cooking shows to get ideas on my own dishes.

I won't eve be cooking food that has a step 1 of "boil the hair off the hoof"

Not sure if you are aware that a lot of southern and creole food traditions are rooted somewhat in cuisines of Africa. Mostly east African, but South Africa's cuisine is mostly just a melting pot of European and English influence with indigenous crops.

Agree to disagree. And most of the people who watch FN are people who are looking for ideas too cook for a family, trying to learn techniques, and/or women. They want to see things they enjoy cooking/eating. The US isnt made up of only curious foodies.

Yeah I may want to try South African food, but it isnt more appealing to the viewers than the POVs currently in the competition.

Nope. Nothing he cooked on the show was any different than any other Italian show they have.

Nah, I'd be much MUCH more interested in a tailgating / hunting camp cooking show than one on South African cuisine. Even if it wasn't Jay's show.

Doesn't the cooking channel already have Man, Fire, Food. That is essentially, from what I can tell, a show about outdoor cooking.

By the way, really have enjoyed Extra Virgin, that may be the best show on the whole FN/CC platform.

Yes, but he does not cook. The Food Network also has
Burgers, Brew, and Que
Boy Meets Grill
Grill it with Bobby
BBQ Addiction
Neelys had a bbq show

They overlap a ton of shows.

Not really. Sometimes it is but most of it is just him eating meat. And again, I dont think Jay's POV is ONLY about tailgating. It seems like he wants to focus on the culture here, which does involve tailgating. But that is not the sole focus.

I think this has gotten a little broader than what I intended to convey.

There is very very little disagreement from me with either of you on this topic.
