My wife received a gift card and asked me if I wanted to meet her their for lunch. I have not been to one of these in at least 10 years, so I figured "what the hell, it's a free lunch". To cut to the chase, this was one of the most unpleasant lunch experiences I have ever had.

Mediocre food, extremely LOUD dining area, tables crammed so close together I could hear the problems of an incontinent elderly mother from the two women seated virtually at the same table. A lot of the noise comes from the kitchen staff banging around the dishes and glasses.

This fits into the "no one goes there anymore, it's too crowded" category. The place is jammed packed with people who want to relive the noisy, bad cafeteria experience from high school. I can think of dozens of places that are the same price but with much better food and a much more pleasant dining areas.

Every meal that I've had there has been very bland.

I like Jason's well enough, but I've never understood the line out the door beginning at 11am. There are far better options for lunch.

It has a pretty good variety and it's a decent value. It's certainly not the greatest option, but I can see the attraction.

I used to work near one. I picked up lunch a couple times and tipped the counter girl well enough so that anytime i wanted soft serve ice cream i would just walk right in and fill up a bowl for myself. It was a great treat during July and August.

Especially when you order a water and then get a coke.

Glad to see so many people can enjoy themselves at Jason's, this keeps them out of the places I like. The dinnerware demolition derby made Superior Grill seem like a library, you can have my share.

Go for it.

Make sure it includes all you can eat full salad bar with iceberg, romaine and spinach, cottage cheese, various sliced vegs. banana and choclate pudding, corn muffins, hummus, multiple dressings, and toppings with a choice of ice cream for dessert.

And for about what, $7?

The names of the sandwiches alone piss me off...Bird to the Wise, the New York Yankee, the Chicago Club. Not high on my list of favorites. I do like the pickle they give you, individually wrapped in a baggie.

As far as the two big chain delis in BR go, I'd always take McCalister's of Jason's
