R&O's

Went in there one time with my family and was the first seated. 3 tables that came in after me received their food first and it wasn't until I had to stop the server and ask where our food was before it finally came out. Frick that place.

Ba Mien

My daughter was 2 years old at the time and was crying for a Tapioca smoothie. So I drove out there with her in hand right before it closed and attempted to get one. You could visibly see that she just finished crying and refused to make us one. People were still in there ordering and eating. Lazy ***** clearly didn't want to clean it again. Frick them.

Pelican House - too many examples to list, but suffice it to say that they'll never see a nickel from me ever again.

Thai Kitchen in Baton Rouge. Order take out about 2 years ago. While eating I noticed what appeared to be a piece of a small cockroach in my food. In looking through the other 2 to go boxes, I found 2 more whole roaches. When I called the restaurant to complain, they said they've been doing some construction and they must have come from inside the walls. I gag while typing this. That episode ruined the place for me.

Correct. The Varsity is not a restaurant and based on the title of the OP, is not even part of the legitimate discussion.

I think it would be smart of them (and places like that) to offer water though for their own liability purposes.

Definitely report to health inspection. Sounds like a lack of food quality and food safety check by management.

Do sports venues give all the fans free water? Why would a concert venue do that?

I thought LSU did on exceptionally hot days?

I could be wrong though, I don't go to the games when it's that hot. I'm a fair weather fan, literally.

Not to say that The Varsity should, though.

They sold the 1 liter water bottles for the same price as half liter water bottles for last year's Auburn game, I think. But they didn't give any away.

I can't imagine ever deciding that it is a good business decision to make customers write down their own orders.

Dress It in the NOLA CBD. They do this shite. It's a form with a bunch of options to check the boxes. Despite writing it down for them, they still frick up the orders 90% of the time. They also take fricking forever to get food out, although there are never more than a few tables. I'm amazed the place is still open.

Just thought of one:

Mr. Gatti's on Essen. We used to go there every other week or so because they always had coupons available for buy one get one free buffets. Good deal for what is my favorite pizza in town. The last time we went there were roaches walking on the buffet. That was it for me. I know that where there is one roach there are a million. We reported it and got our money back and never went back. I really miss the pizza and want to go back but I just can't bring myself to do it. I wish they would remodel or something so I could justify it but we all know that place will close down before they ever clean it up.

Burgersmith -
Bad food both visits. Last time some "friends" asked us to go, my wife pointed out as we waited an hour for food that only three tables in the whole place had food in front of them. And they ran out of ice. And the burger was overcooked and had a fishy flavor somehow. No reason to spend a dime there when Mooyah and Fat Cow are that close.

Well I am not a huge fan of Mooyah or Fat Cow either, but I agree about Burgersmith.

I can't say these places have "lost my business forever" because I didn't have some horrific experience. I just don't care to blow money getting a crappy burger when there are places with really good burgers. If someone I'm with wants to go to Burgersmith, I get the chicken salad sliders.

Crossed Tio Javi's off my list last night. Had decent (not great) experiences with Ninfa's in the past, but at least the margaritas were strong and food was acceptable. Not any more.

Service was slow. Margaritas were straight sour mix. Wife and I drank two "pitchers" of rocks margaritas on special and neither of us caught a buzz. And the ribs are now the sorry excuse known as TJ's Fulton St. Ribs (rack cut on the bias), maybe 2.5-3 inches at the widest.

Should have gone to Superior.

I'm in Baton Rouge at least two or three times a week. I had to stop going to Ruffino's because of terrible service and extremely mediocre food. The last time I didn't leave a tip for the waiter who was rude and kept getting our order wrong. He had the gall to chase us outside and demand a ti. I promptly told him that he could go f*** himself

Oh boy, I wish I could give you more up votes. Dude thinks he's right about everything and gets confrontational with customers, takes it upon himself to terrorize his mostly young female staff. I almost feel sorry for his wife...almost.

I've had enough good experiences at Ruffino's to still go.. though I enjoy the bar area more than getting a table.. but I have definitely had bad experiences too.

Last year, we went with another couple. Waitress opened a 2nd bottle of wine when we all had full glasses. Then when it came time to pay, the couple we were with had a gift card. We gave her the gift card first and then 2 CCs (to split the meal 50/50 between both couples). Told her to just used the gift card first and then split 50/50. When she returned the receipts, the entire gift card was applied to our bill and not the other couple's. We told her that isn't what we asked for, and she sat there and lied saying their POS doesn't allow them to do that (bullshite) and then turned around and walked off.. never came back. No thank you. No goodnight. Just left us with drastically uneven bills that were already closed out and disappeared.

Did ya'll request another bottle of wine or did she just open it in the back and bring it out? Showing the label to the customer before the wine is opened is just a basic step that you would think all servers at Ruffino's would have been taught.

Well a tipsy member of our party said "bring two bottles" when we ordered the wine at the very beginning, so the rest of us said, "No.. we only need one, thank you". She brought the 2nd bottle to the table anyway (understandably.. as she was told two different things). We asked her not to open it and if we decide we need more wine, we will let her know. She left it on the table instead of bringing it back. Opened the first bottle and poured us all glasses.

Came back a while later and everyone's glass was still more than half full, and she opened the 2nd bottle without asking anyone. I ended up having to grab the cork off the table and bringing a full bottle of wine home in my purse

The wine wasn't as big of a deal because it could have been an honest mistake. Refusing to split the bill fairly and using someone else's gift card on my bill was the mistake. Going even further and refusing to take it back to fix it.. and even lying and saying your computer doesn't split checks 50/50 was the biggest mistake. Especially since there was no apology and she just walked off in the middle of this.

Gotcha, the waitress screwing up the spllit would definitely piss me off. If they popped that second bottle without clearly checking with some one at the table before I would have told the waitress they could keep that bottle. I get that you brought it home but if I am drinking wine at home I am not paying the on-premise mark up. I usually try to bring my wine from home anyway and just pay the cork fee.
