One place that I am very sad about is La Caretta in Houma, which is very close to my house and is a great hangout, but the food blows.

Please tell me which Mexican place in Houma you actually like

If this is the same as the LaCaretta in BR and on the northshore (not sure if it is) I'd imagine it's better than the other places in Houma.

Damn. You shouldn't have paid.

That would have been stealing in my book.

That's how it should have been handled or they could have run my payment later. What happened is that they had been put on hold status. They should have told me at the onset of service this fact, but they didn't.

What really pissed me off is the manager accosting me in the parking lot like I had skip checked. That was a dick move in my book and showed a total lack of any managing skills. He should have approached me at the table and we could have discussed our options in a more civilized environment.

Yeah Puccinos is another that I doubt I return. They have way overpriced coffee as it is and they pull the $5 minimum to use a credit card bullshite.
Screw that.
Their service sucks as well.

Andrea's - easily the worst food and service I have had in the NOLA area in my memory.

I'm hard to upset when it comes to food, I mean I had a great meal at this cafe on Carrolton the other day and they served me moldy bread and I didn't complain. Just didn't eat the moldy bread.
So for a place to piss me off it's got to be really bad.

Andrea's was that bad.

I see Carretta's mentioned a good bit and the one on Government in BR is light years ahead of the two in Jefferson parish. Not saying I won't ever eat there again, just saying ZI won't make the choice to eat there (Don Jose's is much better)

Pinettas. Which is really sad because I love some of their food. However, the general suck fest of service and air conditioning just killed the experience last time I was there.

I can't think of any horrible experience off the top of my head but places I wont go to because I think the food is not good and/or is horribly over-priced are:

Another Broken Egg - nothing I couldn't make at home and their prices are just insanely high.

Fleurdelis - cash only? no refills on sodas? place is dirty as hell and I am sorry but that pizza is nothing special. The only people who seem to think so grew up eating it and it seems to be more about their memories than the quality of the food.

La Carretta - One on Bluebonnet used to be our favorite place to go when it first opened. It is right by our house and they had great prices. I could order 3 tacos and a side of rice for like $7 Now prices are twice that and the food quality has gone down horribly. We drive across town for Mexican now.

I would like to add Manning's in NOLA to the list. The food is just too pricey for what you get. Another Broken Egg is the same concept in breakfast form, except I love breakfast food to much too completely stop going there altogether.

I guess I just like eggs bennedict style dishes too much to totally stop going to these places. They have 8 or so choices of these kind of dishes and I sure as hell don't thing I could make them as good at home and def. don't feel like dealing with the mess.

The Broken Egg in old mandeville in the old cottage is really a neat place to eat. And there really aren't very many good breakfast places around.

While I stil order to-go from Bay Leaf and Curry & Kabob, I refuse to eat in the restaurants due to their "broken" AC systems as a way to save money.

C&K was so swelteringly hot that the other diners were either fanning themselves or sweating while they ate. Combine that with heavily spiced food and you want to leave the moment you sit down. This was during the summer months and after the 3rd of this happening, I was done. I went for takeout a few months later and it was probably 80 degrees in the place. The waitress was sweating. So uncalled for.

I went to lunch a few Sunday's ago at Bay Leaf and a wave of heat hit me as we walked into the door. The temperature outside was around 75 so no need for that. We sit down and already I feel my brow getting damp. I walked over to the buffet and peak at the AC on the wall. 78 degrees.

Of course I asked politely to a group of servers if they would turn the AC down a bit. They did, but you could tell they weren't comfortable doing it.

I'll take my Indian to go from now on.

I wont eat Curry N Kebab any more once it gets warm outside. The manager says they have tried getting it fixed but the AC unit is not powerful enough to keep the place cool with the buffet in the room. The owner of the building (they rent) will not pay for a more powerful AC. It really is not a matter of them being cheap. It is horrible during the summer. I pick up to-go occasionally but mostly I just stay away. I make up for it during the cooler months though, I love that place. I have talked to the manager about the issue and been very upfront with him. He knows but not much they can do unless they pay for a new AC themselves on a building they don't own or they have to move.

I am thinking about calling LaCaretta owners,

You should call. They are genuinely conscientious people. They would probably appreciate it. It's pretty hard for restaurant owners to respond to complaints if they don't know the complaint.

As to the OP-yeah, I'm done with Georges. That place is a clusterfrick.
