I'd add:

Bear Republic Racer 5
NOLA Hopitoulas
Lazy Magnolia Timber Beast RIPA

Ruination is a very good beer, but it's a palate blaster for a newb...

I had Racer 5 for the first time in Philly recently. Can I get it anywhere in BR?

Matherne's and Whole Foods sell it in the big bottle, but you'll need to make a Spec's run to get cases of 12 oz. I empty the shelves of a few Spec's when making HTown visits.

Much prefer the smoother IPA taste of say Sierra Nevada or Bear Republic,etc..over the extra bitter version of IPAs like Clown Shoes or Stone,etc..

I think hopitoulas would be a good gateway to IPAs. Its not as hoppy as endeavour and some others and its an easy drinker, and readily available

St. Arnold Endeavour is one of my favorite beers.
Sierra Nevada Torpedo is quite good too.
NOLA Mechahopzilla is excellent. A few places in BR have it on draft (Bulldog, Radio Bar) and a canned version will be out soon.
I also like Red Hook Longhammer. They have it at Albertson's and on draft at a few places, like Radio Bar.

from what I heard, it technically was never officially distributed here. We got the leftovers from a tx distributor.

Not sure why it doesn't come here anymore though.

Try Green Flash Hop Head Red.

Favorite IPA is Heady Topper. Closely followed by Pliny the Elder and Surly Abrasive.

Others that are on te list and a little easier to get (available in nearby states) are Boulevard Double Wide, Cigar City Jai Alai, Bells Two Hearted.

Don't buy old IPAs that have been sitting on the shelf for months collecting dust.
