.. and it is completely room temperature, not even fridge-cold... would you use it for burgers?

Mom said she used to always leave ground beef out all day, but I'm not making spaghetti or something fully cooked. I'm making med-rare burgers.

I'm scared. What would you do?

Not a chance in hell I'd use it for anything. Tell her to run that shite under water next time, and it'll be defrosted in 30 minutes.

If it was Heady Topper it evidently goes bad within 2 hours of canning... so definitely need to trade it off.

I'll take it.

It was me. I was half asleep this morning and assumed it would be fine. I didn't think about how small of an amount it was and how quickly it would defrost.

Ground meats have too much surface area to harbor bacteria. Toss it, and get more.

Yeeeeeeah. I tossed. I can't mentally get over it even if it ended up being safe.

I'll defrost my chicken thighs for blackened chicken sandwiches on the buns

I probably wouldn't serve it to the kids, but I'd eat it.

My mom did the same, but there's no way I'd do it, and I laugh at a lot of food safety things.

Not for a medium rare burger, but I keep my house at 65, so my room temp is pretty cool.

I'd toss it and make a trip to the local store, dropping four bucks.

Thanks all. I tossed it.

Just did chicken sandwiches instead. Took 20 minutes to defrost the chicken thighs under running water.

BR traffic is too horrible where I live to have made a trip out.

What are you out? 4.99?

You'll risk puking all night for $5?

Well, the ground beef was given to me. So I'm out nothing I just really wanted a burger.

But you're right. I've never been food poisoned (knock on wood) and didn't want to start now.
