I enjoy it, but none of my network of foodie friends and eat clubs have heard of the FDB. So I would guess the influence is neglible, notice many places that get drummed on this board are prospering.

Does it matter?

just curious which ones? there are a lot of tourist traps that we shite on but there's always a line out the door (i.e. - mothers, oceana grille, etc)

I think most of the places that are legit in the city, this board recognizes...some places way over the top even.

If you're talking about New Orleans, I would love to hear which place gets unfair hate on this board. If anything it's the undeserved getting praise.

Somehow I knew when I made that comment it would attract some "who?" comments. BTW, I was referring to Baton Rouge places, not NO.

Besides the chains like Olive Garden, Red Lobster etc, local places that draw mostly unfavorable comments are Fleur-de-lis, Walk-ons, TJ Ribs, and Pastime gets hit on too. There are several others that don't come immediately to mind, but I enjoy all those places and take the comments lightly.

The FDB has a lot of repeat threads over the best burger, best pizza, the latest gastronomic delight from Taco Bell, so it's a fun board, but its not the NY Times restaurant review. Enjoyable, yes, powerful, no.

I remember the first time I heard of this board was when someone posted about the restaurant I was managing in BR. A regular showed me and I was hooked ever since. Besides posting reviews and engaging in discussions, I've based what and where I eat/drink on my days off and vacations. It really is an awesome board.

Careers and fortunes have crashed and floundered on the rocky reefs of the FDB. It's ominous, yet thrilling at the same time.

Unless I can get one of those "proverbial" make up meals. ..
